London International Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film
Taken from the January SFX newsletter
The London International Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film is now in its fourth year, and SFX is proud to be one of the event's sponsors.
Sci-Fi-London 4 begins in the West End from 2-6 February, before going on tour around the country. The schedule mixes together new films, rare screenings, and sci-fi shorts. The festival will also see the UK's first-ever screening of all three Matrix films (along with the Animatrix animated shorts).
Films receiving their premiere UK screenings include Sean Astin's new film - Slipstream, Cube Zero (the third part of the Cube series), and Able Edwards, a cloning tale made using DV cameras, greenscreen, and a Mac - the future of desktop cinema? Other highlights include Primer, the
no-budget Canadian SF film that won last year's Sundance festival prize, and the documentary Auto Destruct, which documents the tragic story of one man's obsession with William Shatner...
The festival takes place in the West End from 2-6 February, with screenings at the Curzon Soho, Odeon Panton Street, Odeon Wardour Street and UGC Trocadero. It then goes on tour to Edinburgh Cameo (18-20 Feb), Liverpool FACT (25-27 Feb), York Picturehouse (4-6 March) and Exeter Picturehouse (11-13 March).
