A cult classic and just so weird and yet SO cool. Many folks just haven't seen this and they REALLY need to

I've seen Repo man - totally surreal!!

I know it's not really sci-fi, but another Emilio Estevez film, Maximum Overdrive, was pretty good

Wobag I remember seeing Enemy mine a few times on late night tv and you are right it is quite a overlooked one Quaid is excellent in it id say probably one of his best films.

Cube is a fantastic movie, watched it again at Easter and just have to applaud for what was achieved on such a low budget.

Repo Man is great but only borderline sci fi I would suggest.

Enemy Mine is kind of cheesy IMO.

How about Silent Running?

Or Dark Star?

Or Soylent Green (one of the all time great endings).

And does Pi count as Sci Fi?

Well that list read like "Oh YEAH... That one was cool... I loved that one!" type affair Were'nt the robots in Silent Running just the cutest

And wasn't the robot in Hardware errr.. NOT just the cutest

Enemy Mine is one of my all time favourite Sci-fi movies. If it ever comes on TV again I recommend that you record it, as the TV version is 25 minutes longer than the video release!

Just had a thought maybe the most overlooked sci fi film has been overlooked by all of us

Classic movie, the ending was a lil naff though, But ooo rats in a cage and for somthing that was done on a low budget, the creators did the film very very well indeed and with talk of a sequal in the pipe line it makes you wonder if it will stay true to the original film, or whether a big studio will pick it up and recreate it in their own image, thus destroying the quality n what not...

I'd vote for Spacehunter : Adventures in the Forbidden Zone , shot in glorious 3D as well and if that wasn't enough it stars Molly Ringwald of all people

erm i'd go with cube, gattaca and prob existence theyre all very good scifi's imo

Hardware is brilliant so's their other film Dust Devil

Enemy Mine was kinda fun.
Silent Running was *self-edit* fantastic.
Cube was mentally stimulating but never really grabed me. And the ending was really poor.

However, the Bladerunner thread has made me think of another possibility - Total Recall.

Hardly unheard of, but I don't know many people who actually liked it - and when I first saw it I thought it was a Hollywood rape of a Dick classic. Then a couple of years later I realized just what an act of genius it was. If you work from the premise that everything is fantasy (instead of the is it/isn't it approach) then the casting, and some of the sillier scenes make perfect sense. Maybe not so much over-looked as under-valued?

I love Silent Running, but I can't watch it too often as it always makes me cry.

Not too crazy about Dark Star tho' I though it very slow.
