Yes! As many have said recently, the Birds animation beforemonsters inc kicked off. Big Fun
Remember when...
...you got all those cartoons and weird short films before the actual film. Further more, does anyone actually remember seeing anything worthwhile?

I was thinking more about years ago when you got A Disney short and some Chzec film about a Donkey, then the lights would come up and youd all have icecream.
The sense of expectation when itgot to the 'classification' screen, then fade to aanother darn short film...

I remember getting really excited when a short Roger Rabbit cartoon came on before the main film. And I wasn't even watching the Roger Rabbit film!
I remember one about someone having a haircut once
There's an old style cinema not far from where I live and they have the old Playtime Popcorn advert (the one where the old woman drops her glasses ). Also, a public service announcement about litter control which was made in 1978, occasionally a Sunkist advert (even though it's been out of production for about 5 years) and there's always an interval halfway through the film when the usherette sells ice creams!!

I dont think you can beat the 'Tile Warehouse, only 20 mins form this threatre' to really get you worked up for the main feature
I remember a Tim Burton short about a boy who wanted to be Vincent Price before The Nightmare Before Christmas. I'd like to see it again, anyone else know it?
I always remember at our local cannon cinema Lionel Richie singing "say you say me" was on before every film. Very strange
That's not the Grantham one is it? I don't know why I think it is, I haven't been there in years, it just sounds really familar.

It's in Woolton. It's one of the very few old style cinemas remaining and the only independantly owned one left in Liverpool.
It's a pity there aren't more like that still around.

ooo i loved the Bird short before Monsters inc as well. it was just as funny as the movie. all the birds are so cute n adorable and in the end they had the last laugh
Yes, I saw that one too, and loved it. Not sure if it's available on the DVD/video...didn't Vincent Price actually do some of the voiceovers?

I saw an excellent short about an angel, made by Channel 4 films, before...<thinks> Solomon and Gaenor, that or This Year's Love, at a lovely old-fashioned cinema in East Finchley when I lived in London. Would love to track that one down again...
When I saw The War of the Roses there was a short Simpsons cartoon with the family at a marriage couselor.
Dick Tracy had a Roger Rabbit cartoon before it on it's cinema release. It was the one in the fairground with the rollercoaster. Dick Tracy was really dissapointing after that.
And I remember seeing a claymation cartoon where all the characters looked like Kirk Douglas.
It was about a newspaper and the reporters "sense of ethics"
It reminded me a lot of this Kirk Douglas movie where he's a radio journalist reporting from a staged mining accident.
The cartoon was so good I can't even remember the main feature....
