My top 3 trek films are:

4) The Voyage home
2) The wrath of Kahn
6) The undiscovered country

which is a bit of a surprise cos I'm a huge next generation fan, but I feel they just havent managed to capture the brilliance of the tv series in any of the Next Generation movies.

When you've got one of the best actors in the series (Mr Stewart), you really gotta give him someting to show off his talent, but sadly the movies haven't delivered.

On principle I'd agree. When Picard is tortured by the Cardassians,, I don't think the films have give such a powerful role, but saying that, his lose of his family in Generations and his obssession with defeating the Borg in First Contact, in particular his HUGE quarrel with Alfe Woodard are very meaty moments for Patrick Stewart.

ST 2:Wrath Of Khan
ST 6:Undiscovered Country
ST 4:The Voyage Home

And the worst one has to be ST 9:Insurrection..it was awful. I've not got high hopes for the next film but hopefully it'll be good...some nice big space battles are what the film needs

Are they on 10 already? I've only seen up to the one where Kirk dies. Was that no 6? No 7?

I liked Wrath of Khan and the one with the whales. I thought the one where they sat around the camp fire and sang was rather awful. And the first one wasn't very good.

He does??? Watching it the other day, I didn't see that... I agree TMP is a little slow, but that got improved with the Directors Edition.

The Final Frontier and Generations tie for the worst for me!

2. II The Wrath of Khan (old enemy of Kirk steals Genesis and kills Spock)
3. III The Search For Spock (Klingons and resurrection of Spock - destruction of Enterprise)
4. IV The Voyage Home (alien probe threatens Earth, time travel to rescue whales)
5. V The Final Frontier (Spock's emotional brother steals the Enterprise A and tries to find God)
6. VI The Undiscovered Country (Kirk and McCoy accused of assassinating Klingon Chancellor)
7. Generations (Enterprise B, Soran, the Nexus, Enterprise D destroyed)
8. First Contact (Enterprise E, Borg, time travel, Data gets flesh)
9. Insurrection (eternal life, dodgy Admirals, Picard's latest fling)

And yet to come:

10. Nemesis (??? - we do know it involves the Romulans and the Remans...)

Thank you!! It's not that I'm not a fan, its just that up until 3 months ago I worked with someone who every Xmas came into the office block dressed in one of his many trek uniforms, which was very scary and made all of us who like SF run from Trek screaming!! Haven't quite recovered from it yet...

Speaking as a roleplay enthusiast trying to run a game set at the same time as the movies, you have no idea how difficult is to explain that one in more reasonable terms...

2 - The Voyage Home ('Can you tell me where they keep the nuclear wessels?')
3 - The Undiscovered Country

Am I the only person who actually liked Insurrection? OK, it wasn't far different from a double episode, but I'm not one to knock a double ep of Trek. And at the cinema you get pick'n'mix as well

Worst ever has to be The Final Frontier.

Love 'Wrath of Kahn'.
'Undiscovered Country' is pretty good.
'The Voyage Home' is just very, very funny. That quote is fantastic, White Hart. In Reaganite America, at the height of the cold war. Fantastic.

What I don't get is why people like 'First Contact' so much. Not keen on the Borg queen or the way the actual first contact happens. On the plus side, it does have drunk Deanna Troi.

More on Nemesis. The Romulan intridgue is lead by a human called Shinzio (or somthing, first five letters are right anyway). Plus lots of the cast who before, were against any more after X, have said there might be more, so... maybe they all die in X, who knows???
