Spiderman - Very Minor Spoilage (If you can call it that)

#Spiderman, Spiderman..Does whatever a spider can#

Just back from a preview of this and thought I'd let you all know how it was.

I was quite keen to go and see this, and must admit, I loved the majority of it. There were just a minor thing that kinda got up my nose a bit. Spidey's web shooters in the comics etc were man-made by himself. In the flick they are organic..ie they were part of him. And the final scene with Peter Parker/MJ? Oh my god!? Why did he turn her down?? There better be a good reason in the sequel!

Cast-wise I thought it was quite good. Good to see the cameo of Bruce Campbell & Lucy Lawless (Blink and you'll miss Lucy though) too

. Tobey Maguire in what I guess you could say was his first major lead role type thing did quite well. The matching of him and Kirsten Dunst (*swoon*)

was a good choice also. No, it's not because I thought she was drop dead gorgeous either.

The fight scenes were well coreographed and quite realistic. The end fight between Spidey and The Green Goblin is a sight to behold. And not forgetting the average bad guy butt-whoopin' too.

The film ended perfectly lining itself up for the next sequels. I loved the soundtrack to this too, brilliant to see Uncle Ben listen to a bit of Sum 41 as well

(I stayed to the end of the credits to hear and see what they used hehe)

All in all a tad overhyped, but a superb flick all the same. There's a good chance I'll go and see it again as it's an excellent way to spend a couple of hours.. Or 2 and a quarter hours if you want to get pedantic. This is one person who will whole-heartedly recommend this one and wait with baited breath for the sequels.

If I think of anything else, I'll update the post.

ok so u are saying batman will eventually figure out a weekness? well no way, if batman weht into a city that exists, new york and had to fight spiderman there and then spiderman would beat him as batman would have no time to figure out a weekness, spiderman would use his web and fast moves to beat him in seconds.

I saw this the other day (the preview I went was also quite empty !) and I thought it was great ! The casting was well done. I think Sam Raini was right to cast Tobey Maguire...I think if he had picked someone with a bigger hollywood profile then they would not have necessarily been able to pull of the transition from ordinary person into superhero.

The bit at the end with Mary Jane got to me too...although it is a damn good reason to make a sequel !

And then Batman would come back next week with a non-stick batsuit, some sort of swarm projectile to overwhelm the Spider Sense, and a spray that de-adhesified Spider-Man's hands, and the web-slinging one would take a tumble off a building. Non-fatally of course, because Batman no more kills than Spider-Man does, but he'd go down.

Say what you like, when hero fights hero, it's all about the ratings, SPIKE, and no-one has ever had the ratings to touch the Batman.

saw the film and must admit better than i was expecting - but then wasnt exactly expecting much!!!

Kirsten Dunst as MJ though? No Way!!! Gwen Stacey maybe but never Mary Jane!

Liked the way they stuck to the origin of Spidey wrestling and letting the crook get away and kill Uncle Ben (did any one else notice that - Luke Skywalker has an Uncle Ben too!!), but where were the webshooters??

Still, looks set for a few sequals - and plenty of villains to choose from!

Spider-Man doesn't kill. He may have inadvertently doomed the world to destruction that one time, but that was - to be fair - not his fault.

Batman never inadvertently doomed the world to destruction, I'll have you note.

I went and saw this sat night , and to be honest wasn't that impressed , sorry people

Hey don't appologise just cos you weren't impressed.

I'm with you on this one.

I didn't think it was rubbish, but to be honest I expect a lot more from a 100 million dollar plus summer blockbuster with access to a wealth of stories & characters to choose from.

OK, here's my problems with the film:

1) Complete and utter lack of score, I mean Batman has dadadada da DA!, and Superman has da dada da da, da da da, but Spiderman had nowt. I'm sorry, but you can't have a decent superhero film without a decent score.

2) Green Goblins mask.
All the drama, tension & horror from all the Green Goblins scenes were lost due to him having a rubbish mask that was probably borrowed from a Power Rangers movie.
To prove my point, check out the big dialogue scene with the Goblin trying to persude Spidey to join him. That whole scene had no impact for me whatsover cos you couldn't see their faces/mouths/eyes. Willem Dafoe was great, but how the hell can you act when your face is covered in a hard mask?

3) Overuse of CG yet again.
How can we be expected to care for Spiderman when he don't look real. I certainly don't feel any emotions for the character when I know it's not the real McCoy.

I did like Tobey Maguire as Spidey, and found all the Peter Parker side of the film a lot better than the Spidey stuff.
The boss of the newspaper was brilliant, and hope to see a lot more of his character in the sequels.

Oh, and the Batman v Spiderman thing, I'm with Batman, simply cos the films are better (well the first 2 anyway).

ok i agree to an extent, i thoguht the mask was done well to make it fit in the film to be honest, but i didn't feel he looked enough like the green goblin from the comics, simply because he didn't have the purple hat and costume, i think if they'd put a bit of purple on him i'd have been happy.

in the trailor i noticed this a lot more, a lot of scenes didn't look real, but when i was into the film i hpnestly didn't notcie at all coz it had me totally gripped, but i agree a lot of films have too much cg nowadays.

Rae Your imitation of my walk, and the perfect way you talk. It's just a couple of the million things, that i love about you.

wow..it was pretty cool..very cool in fact.

some of the lines were a bit naff and the jumping across the buildings looked weird but i liked, esp. the bit where he's trying to amke his webs work "go webs go" etc. it was pretty funny.

end was pretty sad

i think The woman who palyed aunt May was totally right for the part, as was kirsten dunst for MJ
