Okay, you always see reviews say "oh, it's their finest performance to date...", but, is it???

Obviosuly Julia Roberts best performance is Erin Brokavich (her oscar role), but for others it's not. Russel Crowe and Judi Dench both provide powerful performance in all their films, yet can you tell which is better?

Is Dench better as Mrs Brown, or Iris Murdoch or another?? Crowe in 'The Insider' or 'A Beautiful Mind'?

Personally, I think most actors complete their finest work later on, not in early roles. Then they aren't awarded for the right one. Imagine the next two Lord of the Rings are no where near as good as the first, I bet you Ian Mckellan would get an oscar anyway!!! It's hard to judge, when someone should be properly commended. Susan Sarandon was achlaimed for 'The Cleint' but was truly great for 'Dead Man Walking' later on, which she was properly acknoledged and to me, is her finest work.
