I love this film too! And I didn't spot the prison thing either. Cool!

Sequel could be interesting. Or it could be really bad. I can't think how they could do it without it just being a rehash of the first one. But hopefully they'll come up with something cool! Do you know if it's the same people making it?

Great film, wonderfully pretentious

The sequel (Hypercube) came oout in the US a few months ago, and is doing the rounds of european film festivals at the moment. It'll probably come out on general release in the UK the week after Hell freezes over

hypercube...hmmm, i agree that it could either be really good, or really bad. Sometimes sequels surpirse you, but other times they just suck.

i'm just toddling off to watch the trailer. The user comments seem mixed about it(the movie, not the trailer).

The traielr just reminds me of Cube, i'm sure the one of the characters lines is the same as Cube, something about does anyone remember how they got here, waking up or something.
In Hypercube, apparantly everyone was invovled in the design/making of it in some way.

I really wanted to see the cube until someone told me what happened at the end. Not much point now really. It is the one where they find out... oops better not say just in case

I wouldn't say that Cube is the sort of film whose main selling point is a big surprise ending. It's one that's consistently good all the way through. So I would advise you to see it cos it is cool!

Interesting. Sounds like Hypercube as in tessaract (ie 4 dimensional analogue to a cube in the same way a cube is a 3D analogue to a square). I recall once reading an article in the Dragon about how to use tessaracts/hypercubes in dungeons to really confuse players and mess up their maps. Not that my players generally needed much help to do that...

Not only are the characters named after prisons but they reflect the prisons themselves. Example: Kazan (the mentally challenged character), in Russia is a disorganized prison. Rennes (the "mentor" was a jail that pioneered many of today's prison policies. Quentin (the detective) is known for its brutality.
