I think people believe kids can't handle the violence, which in most cases isn't true. I know when I was a kid, I saw 15 and 18, it never shocked me. I wasn't running to mummy asking why the man isn't getting back up. The 12A rating won't let kids go in on their own, but will let adults take them. If the parent, who in all fairness should know there kid, thinks they'll be fine with it, then I think it was a good move to bring in 12A.
Spiderman is a great movie, in my own godlike opinion, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are move violent. The beginning of LOTR was more violent than some 15. Yet it was 'fantasy violence'. That doesn't make it any less violent. Kids were fine with that, they'll be fine with this too.
