Yeah, I totally agree. When you go into a film having seen all the trailers and read loads of reviews, it sometimes colours your judgement and means you enjoy something a lot less than you thought you would. Sometimes only the greatest movies can live up to the hype.
Of course, it can work the other way. If all the reviews say a film is dreadful, it lowers your expectations and you sometimes enjoy a below par movie more because you were expecting less than you get.
I can't remember the last film I saw without reading loads about it, but one that sticks in my mind from a while back is South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut. I'd not really watched much of the tv show and knew nothing about the film, but went along anyway because my boyfriend wanted to see it. I laughed through practically the entire movie! Would it have been as good if hundreds of people had told me to go because it's fantastic? Hmm... probably
