opinions anyone?
i just went to see this, and oh my god, fantastic. i think the slating its received from some media sources is unecessary as this film is amazing.....the opening battle scene, i was totally blown away by it, with the use of music and just everything!
it may be a bit tedious and it really really could have been trimmed in certain places. i did find myself thinking ahh this *must* be the end at one or two points *you'll know when you've seen it what i mean* but its soooo worth it in the end, and as a whole.
one thing that did dissapoint me was the fantastic very very very end bit with the changing new york city. the whole cinema couldn't seem to wait for it to finish and all got up (blocking my view! ) and left during this bit....

performance wise...
cameron diaz has been slated for her performance and i admit when i saw a clip of her blubbering i was thinking she was going to be awful. but to be fair she didn't have a lot to work with, i read her part was only meant to be 2 lines or so but was developed....but what she did do was a fair performance
leo was surpisingly good, for some reason i did not expect him to be any good at all with this role. for a start i always seem to have a thing about americans doing irish accents....just no! heh...aheh. but he pulled it off fairly well, maybe it wasn't so accurate in parts but his performance made me forget this when usually i wouldn't, so he obviously did some right!
and of course....daniel day lewis....waaahhh! so good! thats all i'm saying
oh and the lovely liam neeson as priest vallon, only a small part but he was really good!

sure there can be discrepancies with the plot, but if we take it for what it is: a fantastic piece of cinema, an epic, and an ambitious movie then it works

woah long winded....but i guess theres a lot to talk about ok!
