I was thinking about it, especially since it was written by William Goldman, but every review I have seen suggests that this movie sucks like a $50 whore, with a number predicting it will be hard to see a worse film this year (aka Freddy Got Fingered syndrome).

you mean the screenplay right or adaption from the book? if you've read the book then i think then going to see the film might be a case of "okay let's see how they've messed this one up."

Haven't read the book but did watch the film. Hilariously bad. Jason Lee was scrummy but not in it for long enough. The film started well - reasonably scary and enough intrigue in the characters to keep your attention. But all the scenes involving Morgan Freeman were so hammy even Anthony Hopkins would have blushed.

The portrayal of Mister Grey's possession of one of the characters was simply hilarious slapstick. And falls in line with the Hollywood mantra 'All bad guys (or Aliens) must have English accents'.

As the tension is meant to be turned up the unintentional humour goes critical. Any respectability the film creates in the first half of the film collapses at an exponential rate in the latter half. By the end you’re either in hysterics or you've left the building.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Stephen King. I think he has great ideas but doesn't think them through enough. However, I do think The Shining, The Green Mile, Misery and even Pet Cemetery are great (ok, the last one is just good fun) films. Having said that, I saw this film with two HUUUUGE SK fans and they hated/laughed at it as well.

I'm only going to see it because the animated Matrix short, Final Flight of the Osiris, is showing with it. Sorry, but I've heard it's awful.
