Light-fingered Winona Ryder is to receive the ultimate accolade and become the subject of her own musical. Entitled Sticky Fingers: A Tale of Saks, Lies and Videotape, the musical has been written by a group of American high school drama students about the actress's no-charge shopping spree. 'We're inspired by the old Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland "Hey let's put on a show" kind of spirit,' said the students' teacher proudly. The musical follows a tango-dancing missile factory employee, who travels to Beverly Hills and has an encounter with Ryder in Saks Fifth Avenue, the shop she tried to leave without paying for $3,500 worth of goods. Police also found eight different pain-killers and tranquillisers on the elfin actress, who has just completed 480 hours community service for her absentmindedness. The kind-hearted students have invited Ryder to attend the premiere of Sticky Fingers but have received no reply as yet. They are hoping the fact that Saks Fifth Avenue have donated shopping bags for the set of the play will swing it for them, but who needs a bag when you've got a big jumper? Other celebrity musicals include Jerry Springer: The Opera, and announced today is an eight million pound musical version of The Lord of the Rings, opening in London in two years' time.
