As usual I've been uber-busy this month and missed the first cinema date of the month

So what was released last week..that would be Legally Blonde 2:Red, White & Blonde; Spy Kids 3D and some film called Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines??

T3 is arguabley the big movie of this month but we also see the next movie in the ever expanding Tomb Raider franchise released this month and the third installment in one of the funniest movie franchises ever American Pie 3: The Wedding. So here we go with my round up of this months releases...

August 8th

Rugrats Go Wild(aka The Rugrats Meet The Wild Thornberrys) - Kids movie combining two of the more popular cartoons, think He-Man meets She-Ra(although obviously not *that* good) but for the 2000 generation and your almost there The Rugrats and their familys get stranded on an island where they are aided in their adventures by the Thornberry family.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl - One of this months bigger releases. Featuring (alleged) heart-throbs Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp as Will Turner and Jack Sparrow respectivley. Sparrow & Turner must stop the evil Captain Barbossa from breaking a curse using the blood of Sparrow's true love and find a hidden treasure.

What A Girl Wants - A teenage girl comes to England to find her father...a feel-good family movie which screams don't watch me..maybe it's a chick flick??

August 15th

Rodger Dodger - Smooth talking Roger Swanson thinks he knows everything about manipulating women. But when his teenage nephew arrives on his doorstep and asks Roger to teach him how to seduce woman Roger finds out he doesn't really have all the answers. Starring *cough* Elizabeth Berkley, Issabella Rossilini, Jennifer Beals and Campbell Scott this has had mixed reviews with some hailing it a comic masterpeice.

Freddy Vs. Jason - The return of two of the biggest names in horror movies. Freddy Kreuger is stuck in hell, powerless after the parents of Elm Street start giving their kids dream suppressing drugs. In order to regain his power Freddy manipulates the dreams of Jason Voorhees and sends him to Elm St to rememdy the situation. But when Jason finds out he's being manipulated he trys to destroy Freddy once and for all.

American Pie: The Wedding - This is my choice of the month. After seeing the trailers I've been really looking forward to this film. Most of the original cast return for the wedding of Jim and Michelle. If it's half as funny as the first one I'm going to have to take two pairs of pants to the cinema

August 22nd

Confidence - Andy Garcia, Rachel Weisz, Dustin Hoffman and Edward Burns star in this movie about a con artist(Burns) who's scam to avenge his friends death goes wrong leaving him endebted to mob boss The King(Hoffman). I've seen a trailer and it looks interesting.

The Lizzie McGuire Movie - Movie based on the popular Lizzie McGuire televison show. Definite kiddie chick flick. Unless under 13 and female avoid at all costs.

Intermission - Starring Colin Farrell & Kelly Macdonald, Intermission is a love story about people adrift and their convoluted journeys in the search for some kind of love. When John breaks up with Deirdre to 'give her a little test' his plan backfires leaving her broken-hearted and him alone and miserable. Through chance and coincidence, their break-up triggers a roller coaster ride of interweaving escapades in the lives of everyone around them.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life - What is it with most of this months movies having really long titles??? Anyway I almost went off on a tangent there so back to the thing in hand. Angelina Jolie reprises her role as Lara Croft and goes to Africa in search of the mythical Pandora's Box. Largely panned by the critics, this hasn't had the success in America that the first film did. The storyline isn't as fluid supposedly and it also suffers from a lack of a decent soundtrack(U2 are missed) I'll probably watch it just for Angelina though *drool*

August 29th

Jeepers Creepers 2 - I caught the first film on DVD about a year after it's release and thought it was quite good. I'm not a big horror movie fan as I don't scare easily(it is only a movie after all) but I found Jeepers Creepers quite interesting and it had a sinister tone to it. This sequel is set a couple of days after the original. Returning home from a Championship game, a group of varsity basketball players, cheerleaders, and coaches become stranded on the infamous East 9 Highway - only it's the cunning Creeper who has actually crippled their bus. As night falls, the terrified group of young athletes must fight their own fears and prejudices and come together in a seemingly hopeless struggle against a winged nightmare, hellbent on stockpiling as many victims as it can on the final night of its grizzly, ritual feast.

Against The Ropes - A fictional story inspired by North America's most famous female boxing promoter, Jackie Kallen(played by Meg Ryan). Her struggle to survive and succeed in a male dominated sport. Omar Epps also stars.

A View From the Top - A small town woman tries to acheive her dream of becoming an international flight attendant. But as usual acheiving that dream is harder than it seems in this amusing comedy. Gywneth Paltrow is the lead with a star studded supporting cast and even a role for ex-Buffy actor Marc 'We all hated Riley' Blucas

[i]Hollywood Homicide[i] - Two LAPD detectives(Harrison Ford & Josh Hartnett) investigate the death of an up-and-coming rap group. Panned by the critics but it's got Ford in it so it might be worth a look

So there ya go..another month and more movies for us all to watch. Hopefully I might even manage to do this at the start of the month next time
