I'm gonna start posting "I thought this was good" from now on ..

Probably that MJ finds out?
Spider-Man 2 :D *Warning! Contains spoilers!*
This seems to be shaping up quite nicely indeed ( ): filming is now well underway, I've heard a rather tasty rumour that some footage of Doc Ock in action has popped up somewhere on the big WWW (not to mention the incredibly cool wallpaper of the good doctor that the official site won't let me download for some reason), and it sounds like they've finally made their minds up about whether Tobey Maguire's playing Spidey again or not...
Anyone else heard anything of interest in regards to the wallcrawler's new movie?
EDIT: Now got the wallpaper, it's now sat snugly on my hard drive alongside a couple of rather cool wallpapers of Halo 2. Good stuff, indeed!

I have to agree, I avoid threads on films until I actually see it. It's only common sense that when a film is released, people are going to talk about it in the thread. Otherwise you're just going to get posts, as Milky said, that just say "I liked it" or "I didn't like it", etc.
If a mod wants to edit out the semi-spoiler in mind, feel free, but I'm not going to

Even if it's a thread you personally set up months before the film was actually completed and released? And I guess you mean until "you have seen them", right? If you do, then the circumstances of my reading this thread (up til now, obviously) might have been a bit hard not to mention the film's only just come out... and anyways

If you don't want to see spoilers, don't read threads about films you have seen them.
Sorry (again) for stressing (specially to Milky and Whistler... ) but okay, Milky's 'revelation' (for those who didn't read the thread before it was edited, don't worry, I won't say what it was!) was one of those ones that wasn't exactly secret, but it was the concept of the uncertainty of it that created anticipation... (tries to explain it without giving anything away, made difficult by still not having seen the film yet!) as in would it actually happen, or be saved for further suspense in Spidey 3? As far as I know, this happened in the comics years ago, so it wasn't like it was specially written for the movie or anything, just like the twist in Spidey 3 I'm betting will almost certainly happen, because it too happened in the comics... heh heh...
Hold on, did any of that last paragraph make sense? Let me know, so I can hire an expert linguist to look at it...
Was a good film, even thru Yvonnes squee'ing and alex's insanely loud laugh
Tho i did have to stop myself a few times from shouting a certain S word in her hair
Some of the CGI was abit dodgy tho.

The policy of this site is that if a TV show has not yet been aired on terrestrial TV, care should be taken to avoid posting spoilers without proper forewarning. Why should it be any different for movies that haven't been out at the cinema for a week yet?

On this occasion I had already seen the movie, but I had avoided reading this thread until then to stay clear of any spoilers. I haven't been spoiled, but someone else has.
Had this been a different movie that I’d not been sure about, I may have looked for the opinions of other people to help me decide if I wanted to see it or not. Is this not the aim of a ‘review’? At this point I would not expect to read that that they find him not guilty, she dies at the end or he was an alien all along, in much the same way as I wouldn’t expect Jonathon Ross to tell me the same.
Changing a structured post to simply read ”I thought it was good” is unnecessarily antagonistic, as is the assumption that you can’t mention plot points and I’d expect more from the poster as an individual AND as an Adept on this particular forum.
All I was suggesting was that a little spoiler warning wouldnÂ’t go amiss. IÂ’d mount a high horse to make my point, but it seems theyÂ’ve all been used up on this thread, IÂ’ll have to settle with closing the figurative barn door now that the spoilers have bolted.
The film is on full general release though, so the TV analogy is a bit off. Lots of people have seen it, and people want to talk about what they've seen happen.

What we need is a clarification of the rules really. If something like this occurs again (and it undoubtedly will) and people want to discuss spoilerish material, does Tangent21 and it's staff want people to start multiple threads?
If multiple threads about the same topic aren't a problem then, well, problem solved.
As adepts, Milky and I can't edit thread titles, so only Alan or staff could edit his post to say 'Spoilers' and when Alan saw it it was too late

This is a tricky one.
If a thread has been started AFTER a film comes out, I think its fair to say that you can expect that thread to cover a lot of whats IN the film. If you look back over previous films, many of them have been posted following preview screenings, and cover as much as this one has, and dont have *spoiler* warnings in the title, and didnt cause any problems.
Conversely if the thread is an OLD one resurrected, then really noone is to know the content of newer posts, and may well expect to remain spoiler free.
I would say that for the time being, if you actually want to comment on a new film, its best to start an opinion thread rather than to resurrect a months old 'preview' thread. In cases where it does happen however, we can stick *spoiler* in the title.
Going forward we have plans for the threads to carry appropriate warnings that can be changed easily as the nature of threads change with subsequent posts.

Emm...I wasn't trying to be antagonistic. I truly was sorry to have spoilered anyone. I edited my first post when it was pointed out that there were spoilers in it. Having thought I'd removed anything that could cause a problem I then come back to find someone else complaining about what I'd written. By the time I'd again edited my post to remove any remote spoiler it was a shell of what it had been which is frustrating when, as my original post showed, I just wanted to express how much I'd enjoyed a movie and what I'd liked about it.

As Maff says, adepts can't change thread titles so even if I'd been clever enough to realise I was posting spoilers (I didn't even realise till I read your post ) I wouldn't have been able to change the title...I could have put a spoiler warning at the start though I suppose. Hindsight is a wonderful thing
In April it was suggested that spoiler tags be introduced for the film forum. At the time we were told there was going to be some forum restructuring which was somehow going to solve the spoiler problem. Well, it doesn't appear to have happened yet.
Time to reconsider those spoiler tags? It seems a far better solution than simply having two threads, or stifling discussion amongst those who have seen it.

If we all had 20:20 hindsight when we needed it, life would be so much easier. Either way, 'tis all okay

Why is it "off"?

The film is on full general release though, so the TV analogy is a bit off. Lots of people have seen it, and people want to talk about what they've seen happen.
Some people don't have Sky because they can't/don't shell out £30 a month for the priviledge and others don't see every single movie the second it's released because they can't afford £5-£10 a movie to do so. These people may appreciate the opinions of others to decide whether or not they want to pay to see it.
Just because a movie is on general release doesn't make it any more availlable to people. In any case, that's not what the thread was meant to be about (either originally nor in it's ressurected form) so I suggest we wait for an appropriate 'spoiler warning' to be adopted and try to avoid repeats in the meantime
As quiet as this site has been over the last few months, the chances are that these threads may not have been read by the same people and so similar situations may not have occurred.

I'm not suggesting that people should refrain from posting their thoughts OR repeating what happened in a particular movie - quote it if you want to, post the entire script if it helps convey what you think - just warn others that you intend to do so. I'd never give the game away to such an anticipated movie, all it needs is a wee bit of consideration (I'm a selfish bitch and even I can manage that )
It's not just forum restructuring, it's a complete rewrite of the site, so it's taking a little time
