I've not read much about Underworld, but it looks gorgeous so I'll have to see it.
Underworld
White Wolf seem to think that Underworld is a teensy bit derivative. Which is funny given how "influenced" WW's WoD setting was by one or two other sources.
Still gonna go see it of course as it looks rather cool, stylish & actiony (kinda like the Matrix & WW's WoD stuff) although obviously it's going to be over designed, pretentious & pap (kinda like the Matrix and WW's WoD stuff).

I went to see this this afternoon, and I thought it was alright... not fabulous, not bad, but a film worth seeing. I didn't think an awful lot happened in it, but there was a lot of cool fighting and some ok effects, but there wasn't much to the story (good for me cos i tend to be a bit slow with these things) but I still think it's worth a visit.
I saw it on Saturday and would say it's OK as long as you're after look and not plot. 'Tis mediocre but has Kate Beckinsale in PVC
I didn't think the effects were that great
They looked a lil ropey in places and there wasn't a single shot with a live actor on screen with an effect at the same time...have they never heard of blue/greenscreen?

I just got back from watching this movie and I loved it. But that may have less to do with the plot and more to do with that massive, bald, black werewolf blokie

I went to see this on Thursday and I thought it was damn cool! The only bad bit was the final death scene which was just incredibly lame. What the hell were they thinking?? But apart from that one minute I loved the film.
Saw this on the day it came out in America - sexy bird in pvc with guns, vampires and werewolves - what else do you need? (ok decent special effects , a better plot etc) but i thoroughly enjoyed it anyway
According to a local paper a few weeks back, Underworld's been banned here in Malaysia due to "elements of violent destruction and scenes involving shape-changing creatures". The mind boggles. Is there anything in the film which is likely to cause gross offence to film censors (albeit pretty damn conservative ones)?
Banned due to shape changing creatures?
I guess they use the same rule of 'imitatable behavior' as the bbfc does here

Hmm... they didn't engage in any, er... close fraternisation... while changing shape, did they? That sort of thing is most likely to draw the censors' ire.
Erm... Not that i can think of!

Oh well, maybe the Malaysian censors are just going through a(n even more) conservative phase. I went to see Warriors of Heaven and Earth (great Mandarin language swordplay action movie) here recently and parts of it had been so clearly censored (disjointed) it was almost like watching Angel on Channel 4!
