They missed out Event Horizon. Definately up there with my top scary films - especially the ending.

Ghostwatch should have been higher up the chart than no 41. I watched the clips on the programme last night and still got the shivers!!

The top ten was mostly no brainers really, but I was suprised that the winner actually came top.

Spielbergs comments on Jaws and the test audiences reactions were amusing

blair witch and texas chainsaw sucked major monkey butts both of them were pointless and boring the ten minutes worth of screaming at the end of texas really pee'd me off ... though i might go see the remake hopefully 2+ decades will mean there's some changes.

Event horizon was just jumpy noises me and my brother went to see this and he even fell asleep while i was trying to ignore the couple in the back row gitting down and dirty coz they were much more scary then that film.

the shinning did scare me the first time i saw it but so did the remake but only because it had inanimate objects moving around and that freaks me out i'd say the Thing had more of an effect on me i was traumatised after the Thing killing the dog lol again i was only 8 so is there any surprise

OH day of the triffids had me scared witless to the point that i could not bare to have my feet on the floor near my bed and i would step on my stereo on the floor to avoid the gap between mattress and floor "is it safe?"

The TCM remake is very different...don't think that's a good thing though.

Also, NO WAY is Jaws scarier than Alien.

#1 is debatable

I was laughing so hard at the Leauge of Gentlemen bit of the chart. My family just didn't get it and were staring at me like I was a freak.

Jaws isn't scary at all

I only saw it from number 42 onwards on TV. I tended to agree with most of them to be honest. Though I hate it when polls like this put in the 'silly' entries, like kiddies films, with a "Hey I remember being scared at that when I was 4!" kind of mentality. I mean, Snow White?! Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?! Captain Scarlet?! Not scary!

I did like the fact that it contained some stuff that was a bit out of the ordinary, like Jam and Ghostwatch. Though the Judderman advert wasn't scary, nor the Prodigy Breathe video. I also don't think the League of Gentlemen is scary in the slightest, but I've not seen the Christmas special so I'll reserve judgement on that one.

It was cool to see Alice Cooper in there, though again I'm not sure it would come under the 'scary' category. I dunno though, maybe when he first started doing his show...

As for what should have won, I don't know. Too many things to consider and my brain's too small....

I thought half the choices on the chart majorly sucked... the "you think I'm funny" scene with Joe Pesci in GoodFellas? Who the hell voted for this thing?? That was funny, not scary! Mind you, so was Final Destination...

could it be the thought of someone who is capable of such horrible violence turning on you? my brother in law is capable of smashing a guys face into a pulp just for cutting him up on the road we had an arguement once where he pee'd me off too much and i had a right go at him and he turned on me suddenly (kinda like how pesci's character's mood changes) and i had to fight the urge to run away crying it's scary coz you dont know if they will go THAT far. but then it might not be that and it IS just funny. like a clown funny.

Well, didn't really think of it like that, that kinda puts it into perspective (I've been in situations like that quite a few times )... but I still can't put Joe Pesci into that kind of context; he still just cracks me up , except of course when I feel real sorry for him during his last scene in the film... "Oh no!" *gunshot*

did you know he's released like an album or a bunch of songs? someone made me a copy of them, SO funny.

It was certainly an interesting watch, though like many I was rather suprised at some of the choices -- I guess that many of them were "of their time", and had to be seen first time round in the dim and distant 70s to get full shock value.

However, the most diabolical moment is without doubt the show giving away the ending of Les Diaboliques!
