Bewitching

I donÂ’t know how many of you have watched the programme Bewitched. ItÂ’s certainly well before my time, but IÂ’ve seen re-runs on Channel 4 and it is a very quaint, funny little program, that shines with 60s spirit.

Any idea who you would cast in the role of Samantha, the lead role? The people who are making the film have. Nicole Kidman has been signed on to play the role.

Producer Doug Wick said “Once you imagine Nicole's talent and that perfect nose, it's hard to think of anyone else in the role.”

Starring alongside Kidman will be Will Ferrell as SamanthaÂ’s mortal husband. Could be a very good pairing.

Indiana Jonesing

Many of you will, and some of you wonÂ’t know that George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, with helpful input from Harrison Ford, have been trying to put together Indiana Jones IV for quite a while. Lucas hired Frank Darabont to write the script. Darabont is an accomplished writer, having written the screenplays to The Shawshank Redemption, Frankenstein and The Green Mile as well as many episodes of The Young Indiana Jones.

Well, he may be accomplished, but Lucas is reportedly not happy with the screenplay at all. It seems heÂ’s quite happy to write naff dialogue in Star Wars, but not for someone else to do it for Indiana Jones. His fix? His fix is to get a new writer to redraft DarabontÂ’s screenplay. So donÂ’t expect Indiana Jones to come before 2006 now.

Hitchhiking to Fame

In more casting news, Sam Rockwell (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, CharlieÂ’s Angels) has been cast as the two headed Galactic President Zaphod Beeblebrox in the feature adaptation of The HitchhikerÂ’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Lois Pain (in the butt)

Superman is a franchise that many people love. The Man of Steel is a true pop culture icon. ThatÂ’s why the people that love it (including many of the crew making the new film) are up in arms about what the director, McG (CharlieÂ’s Angels) is trying to do to it.

Not many details are known about the film as of yet, but McG is reportedly trying to cast Beyonce Knowles (Austin Powers: Goldmember, Crap Pepsi Advert), asÂ… Lois Lane.
I can hear your screams of despair from here.

Despite everyone telling him that itÂ’s a stupid and wrong (wrong, wrong, wrong) decision, he still wants to go ahead with it. Despite the fact that she canÂ’t act, or sing, or do much of anything, he still wants to cast her. SheÂ’s totally wrong for the part. For starters, sheÂ’s black. This is not a race issue, itÂ’s a character issue. Michael Clarke Duncan was excellent as The Kingpin in Daredevil. He is a different colour to the comic character, but he fit the role.

Beyonce Knowles does not fit the role of Lois Lane. She is not a hard-nosed reporter. SheÂ’s not even an actress really. This is one stunt casting that I hope doesnÂ’t get any further than McGÂ’s tiny little mind.
