DisneyÂ’s problems at the moment have been well documented. Closing down traditional animation studios in favour of 3d animation in a believe that now kids have had a taste of 3d, they donÂ’t want 2d.

That makes it all the more fun that this 2d Disney cartoon is so good.

Life in the wild west is hard and when big olÂ’ fat show cow Maggie (played by Roseanne) finds herself handed over to the Patch of Heaven farm, she is dismayed when her new home may succumb to it too. So, she cajoles her fellow cows into trekking out into the horizon in an effort to save their beloved farm.

Fairly standard Disney storyline. Check.
Cast full of famous voices. Check.
Some emotionally tinted music. Check.
Fun, funky characters. Check.

Yes, this is indeed bog standard Disney production. But you know what? ItÂ’s done well. The script is well written, with a host of lines that play well to children and adults alike, for different reasons of course. Add the funky characters and some well timed parodies, and it makes for a very funny cartoon.

The drawing style is different to previous films, but very definitely Disney, so everyone can tell when Disney stamp their mark. ItÂ’s a very colourful, loud style, and it works well given the nature of the characters.

All in all, this is a very enjoyable cartoon that kids, and big kids will both like.
