I loved this film and didn't get annoyed by Adam Sandler once which was surprising i got totally caught up in it all and everything and i want to see it again
50 First Dates
Writer: George Wing
Director: Peter Segal
Starring: Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore
Rated: 12a
Running Time: 99 mins
Trailer: Quicktime, Various Sizes
Tagline: Imagine having to win over the girl of your dreams... every friggin' day.
50 First Dates stars Adam Sandler (The Waterboy) as Henry Roth, a veterinarian at a Hawaii sea-life centre. Evidently heÂ’s a bit of a ladyÂ’s man, taking advantage of women who want a bit of dirty holiday fun. That changes when he meets Lucy Whitmore, played by Drew Barrymore (CharlieÂ’s Angels), who has no short term memory due to a car accident. Roth falls for her, and to get her and keep her, he has to make her fall in love with him every day.
The film is full of standard Sandler type jokes (farting, vomiting, beating people up), and if you love that sort of comedy then you will love this film. The laughs are abundant. If youÂ’re not a fan of over the top comedy (like me), you might still like it. The filmÂ’s premise, while corny, gives the film a sweet emotional centre that makes the jokes forgivable if youÂ’re not a fan. Now, if the stars were crap actors, it wouldnÂ’t work, but Sandler and Barrymore can both hold their own. They have a very good chemistry together on screen, similar to The Wedding Singer, making them a very good team.
The rest of the cast does a good job too. Rob Schneider (Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigilo) is, as usual, a way over the top character, but also making an appearance is Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings trilogy), as LucyÂ’s steroid using, butt clenching, wet dreaming brother with a lisp. He comes off pretty well, and itÂ’s definitely as far as possible from The Lord of the Rings.
Visually and directorially the film is standard fare. The story is corny, the jokes are over the top, but what makes this film watchable is the good ensemble cast and the excellent chemistry between the stars.

I saw this film around a month a go, so if any of the details are a bit wrong, sorry.
I thought it was really good! It made me laugh a lot, and I love Drew Barrymore. My friends hated it though. They wanted to leave the cinema! But I wouldn't leave, so they had to stay. I didn't get why they didn't like it at all. It was so good!
As well as being funny, Lucy discovering and crying at the video tape got me everytime. I thought it was really really good acting. My friends were like 'oh c'mon, again?!' but I thought it was more real that way. But yeah I really did love it.
To begin with I thought, 'why don't the Dad and the brother just tell her instead of going to all that trouble?', but it became apparent why, so they were very very good for her.
I thought the ending was excellent as well, but of course, my friends didn't.

I must admit that I'm both a Drew Barrymore & adam Sandler fan, so my opinions may be somewhat biased, but here it is anyway.
I did like this film (as you may have already guessed), but not just for that fact.
I liked that it didn't have (quite) such a neat ending.
It wasn't ALL better, just mostly better.
Yes, it's totally corny & gave me a bit of a toothache at times, but I thought it didn't drag itself down too far by pandering to the too terribly romantic out there.

There's only two Adam Sandler films I've seen that I don't dislike him in, this and The Wedding Singer. It must be something about Drew

Maybe your taste for the film had more to do with the company you had while watching it

I saw this months ago in Miami and loved it. Full stop
This film rocks! I cried like a girl, but what's new? The scene with Adam Sandler on the boat trying to sing along to the Beach Boys through the floods of tears was fantastic...
*Two thumbs up*
