He could still direct X-Men 3.
Granted, it's not likely unless Superman has a ridiculously fast shooting schedule, but it is possible.
What isn't likely is Fox pushing back the X-Men 3 deadline, so if Singer isn't ready, they'll go with someone else. But it's not the end of the world. X2 was excellent (my favourite of the new-wave comic films), but it's perfectly possible for another team of writers and another director to come on board and make a film that is just as good, or better.
