I'd love to see what Richard Donner had in mind for Superman two, though getting round all the legalities seems doubtful...

Back to the Future 2 & 3 were also shot back-to-back, as were Highlander 2 & 3 - which is why those two made sense together, but very little sense in connection to the original.
The 1974 Oliver Reed/Michael York 3 & 4 Musketeer movies were shot as one, which resulted in a lawsuit as the actors weren't told, although a third part (The Return of the Musketeers) was filmed 15 years later...
And let's not forget the Matrix movies....well maybe the sequels are best forgotten....
