Finally after almost 30 years, the Star Wars saga draws to a close on cinema screens at least with the release of Revenge of the Sith.
What are your first memories of the Star Wars films, will you be sad to see them go? What would have done differently? Was the dialogue really that bad?
First memory is watching A New Hope over Christmas when I was about 7. Witty, surprisingly violent space romp, the sort of thing every boy enjoys.
That's Star Wars' high watermark for me. They're great kid's films, but the adult following leaves me a bit baffled.
And the dialogue isn't that bad, not by 80s sci-fi standards. Willow (the movie, not the sexy geek), now that left scars.
Maffrew In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight...
Not long been back from seeing the film, so here's my (non-spoilery) impressions...
Brilliant. This is exactly what we've all wanted since Lucas announced there'd be a prequel trilogy at all. The plot (and action) is fast paced, both large and personal in scale and full to the brim with the Star Wars ethos.
At times, the film approaches true greatness, but as with all the Star Wars films (especially Return of the Jedi), there are moments that let it down. If you like Star Wars, you'll love Revenge of the Sith. If you never liked it, this won't make you.
I think i'd rank it after Empire Strikes Back and A New Hope, but above Return of the Jedi. It's that good.
