Even though I found the first book a rather soulless blend of public school cliches with magic and a "boy with a destiny" theme carefully manufactured to push kids' buttons, I've got to admit there's something about the films, especially Alfonso Cuarón's dark, imaginative direction in the third. Thankfully the trailer for Goblet of Fire looks like it's continuing in the same vein, and the scale's been ramped up another notch.

Who knows, maybe Harry will crack an expression this time.

I read somewhere a while back that this was likely to get a PG-13 rating in America, so probably a 12a here. Cool news! It means their following the books' lead and allowing the audience to grow up and the stories to get darker...

Loved the darker approach in the last movie although it wasn't very faithful to the book. Seriously looking forward to this one trailers do look good

To be honest, I've been dreading this film ever since I saw the first one. So far all the films have hacked the books to pieces. In the first 2 they tried to fit as much of the book in as possible and hence they seemed very, very rushed, just jumping from one scene to another constantly. Despite being nearly 3 hours long, they just couldn't fit the whole story in. With the third one they didn't do this, thank god. They made a much more coherent and watchable film. But they did it by leaving out large chunks of the book, which a lot of people didn't like.

Now this book was about three times bigger than any of the previous ones, so how the hell is this gonna turn out?! I am looking forward to it, and the trailer does look good (how cool is that dragon? ), but at the same time I'm very worried...

I always work on the assumption that film adaptations are completely divorced from the text. Film and literature are such vastly different mediums that what works well in one can be superfluous in the other. I don't ask if it's faithful to the book, I ask if it's a good film in its own right. As Alan Moore said when asked if crappy adaptations were spoiling his books, "No, look at that shelf, they're all fine."

After this trailer I really can't wait to see the movie! (but then again thats what trailers are made for so it might be a major disappointment)

Hours of Rupert Grint goodness. The Goblet of Fire is my favourite book so I'm most excited/dreading this. Of course, I didn't get my act together quick enough so it's all booked up now for a few weeks. Ah well I've waited all these months I can wait a little longer.

I enjoy the films just as much as the books, because it's just another dimension to accompany the books rather than follow them to the letter.
