Brett and I saw the trailer before ‘I Am Legend’ on Saturday (so very disappointing ) and it looks very good. The filming style is especially interesting to me as it's quite reminiscent of the 911 videos and Blair Witch cinematography – both of which really capture my imagination. I’m looking forward to this.

There was a quick scene involving what looked like a person being mutilated/attacked by a non-human lifeform about a foot taller than him, but it was done as a shadow being cast through a curtain so you couldn’t really tell what was going on, although the noises were indicative. It looks very much like a psychological one that people will talk about (good or bad) a lot when it’s released. Brett and I will definitely be there on the opening weekend

Yeah, the trailer before I Am Legend was excellent. I've been following the trickle of info about the film for a while, but there's nothing like seeing a good, hard hitting trailer like that on the big screen.

I'm very much hoping that you're right and it's mostly psychological. That certainly seems to what all the teasers, trailers and other info point to so far. I'm sure we'll see the monster/demon/aliens/whatever they are at some point, but it's all about being teased into it.

I'm with you though, opening night, gotta be there.

I'm going to see this on Friday Will let you know if it lives up to the hype.

I do prefer it when movies let me imagine my own monsters because I'm better at scaring myself while watching them than any special effects bloke. I don't like scary movies, I never have, but I've found that I'm not scared of them if I don't believe them and the one thing that's most likely to shatter my belief is a rubber alien. Unfortunately, my boyfriend is a sod and keeps making me watch them (but I make him watch chick flicks, so it's pretty fair, lol), I just wish he'd pick better ones than 30 Days Of Night and Res' Evil 3 ::

I have high hopes for this cuz I'll have to watch it whether I want to or not and I'd quite like to not be able to talk myself out of being scared, lol

Again, I totally agree. Seeing gore and monsters on screen just isn't scary, not in any meaningful way. The best scary films are the creepy, sinister ones that claw their way into your mind and lodge themselves in, festering away at your subconscious when it's dark!

Yep, which is why (before Brett came along) I always refused to watch them! lol

You have to stand up to them and put your foot down. Jon knows not to even ask anymore, lol.

We have a give and take thing going on cuz I'd never expect him to sit through PS I Love You unless I'd done my part and joined him to watch a movie he wanted to see. I'd never go and watch a Saw movie at the cinema, but this looks like 50% action and 50% mess-with-your-head and that's a decent ratio for me

He knows where my comfort level is and he knows it's under AVP which is why he's waiting for Mike to come home, lol.

Anyway, back on topic: Cloverfield, woo!!

I saw the trailer for this months ago when it didn't have a name and am really looking forward to seeing it. I shall be going to the cinema for this one even if i have to be a billy no mates!!!

Just got back from the film and I really enjoyed it a lot. I thought they teased it out for just long enough and when it was revealed, it was very cool. I was a bit unsure of the shaky cam style, but it really worked for the film, especially with some good performances.

There were a lot of people at the end that were moaning about how it ended. It's a bit abrupt, but that's the whole point. In the context of the film, it works great.

Oh, and stay until the end of the credits!
