The Incredible Hulk
Last night Sarah and I went to see The Incredible Hulk, courtesy of nectar points. In the run up to the films release, I was really unsure and until recently not particularly excited. The early trailers looked naff and it certainly didn't seem have the beef that Iron Man did, despite a great cast.
But, it was great. Not quite as good as Iron Man, no, but still excellent, and well up there with some of the best super-hero films. Edward Norton is really well cast as Bruce (much, much more so than Eric Bana ever was), Live Tyler is purty as Betty. Tim Roth puts in a good performance as Emil Blonsky too. He's always good at making you think he's an arsehole.
Whereas Ang Lee tried to make Hulk an artsy look at emotion, which left people cold (mostly cos the story itself was crap), this is a real Hulk film and though it's neither a direct sequel nor a reboot, it's always easy to follow, mostly due to really good recap in the opening credits. The special effects are fantastic, they really nailed the look of the Hulk and in action you really do get a sense of how dangerous he is.
There are notable cameos of course (Stan Lee, Lou Ferringo), along with character-cameos which I won't go into. There's also quite a lot of film that didn't make the final cut, so it will be interesting to see if there's an extended dvd.
Great film and definitely one to see. Marvel Studios is on a roll.
