/me wanders in thanks to wireless access in his hotel room, in the hope that he is the aforementioned Firewall person.

What I want to know is - will running two firewalls in series like this cause any problems?
I'm keeping ZoneAlarm because I like it's ability to block outgoing access from programs I don't want to access the net. WipFW doesnt handle applications.
Personal Firewalls aren't quite as much of an "expertise" to me as honking-great-loadsamoney corporate ones are. But the general rule of thumb is:-
"One firewall, good. Two firewalls, better. Two firewalls (installed on the same PC), baaaad!"
Generally they will spend more time arguing with each other about who is actually in control of the PC than they will providing any solid Firewalling for you.
When you've got two in series it will double your effort in trying to track down a connectivity problem.
It's been a long time since I've really played with ZoneAlarm but I thought that the free version of ZoneAlarm did allow individual rule configuration. But as you're looking at it and I'm not, I could well be wrong. There are some alternatives to try and a couple of the other names I hear about are Sygate and Kerio. ZoneLabs have been swallowed-up by Checkpoint, so I've lost contact with the ZoneLabs guys I used to talk to.
