Well fellow gamers, e3 2005 is done and dusted. Somewhat of a mixed show this year; no absolute killer apps, but lots of stuff that looks very good.

In the current generation, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is clearly going to be a winner, perhaps the last killer app of the generation and probably GameCube's best game. Spores on the PC looks very good (and almost makes me wish i had one). Randomly generated species and worlds in an almost endless game universe. Very interesting.

The big events though were the next generation offerings. Microsoft blew their wad a little early with their unveiling of the Xbox 360, which I have to say i think looks excellent. I'm a big fan of the design, and the hardware specs are going to pump out some awesome looking games.

The Playstation 3 is also a monster technically (although how much more powerful it is is debatable, and probably irrelevant really), but the system design is naff i think. Although, if you like boomerangs you'll love the controller. The game videos they showed looked great, but most of it was pre-rendered, so it's not really much of an indication of final product.

Then there's Nintendo, who showed, well, pretty much nothing. They are going for a system that is technically not in the same league as the 360 and PS3, but they are betting on a mysterious hook to grab non-gamers and make them new-gamers.

I'll be signed up for a 360 at launch in November though. Bring on the games
