right mouse click on your desktop --> properties --> settings

On this screen it should show you a monitor (or two) and a dropdown menu which says display 1. xxxx monitor on Name
this name is the type of videocard you have.

For more information you could look on your control panel --> System --> hardware --> device manager --> display adapters

You got a Medion computer by any chance?
The X740XL is a "custom" version of the X700 which certainly isn't a terrific videocard (and thats being nice) but will play modern games if you don't switch too much details on. Depending on the rest of the specs of your machine the videocard could very well be the bottleneck with many of the modern games but without the rest of the specs thats hard to say.

Well the videocard is probably going to be the first thing you'll have to replace to keep decent game performance on that machine as the rest looks pretty decent (plus it has blue lights ). However I wouldn't do so right now as to be honest it is a big leap forward for you to start with and you will be able to play the latest games at at least some "decent" level at the moment. Considering that the X-Mas games rush has come and gone and Ati & Nvidia should be releasing their "future" chips within a few months (Q1 2006) I would sit it out. As there are no real new games that "NEED" it to be played at some decent level and if you wait a little the current models will drop in price a bit (as they will be 1 generation old) which would be the ideal time for you to pick one up. This way you are still capable of playing the latest games for some time to come and not pay the full price for it.
