I think it's a shame. I always looked forward to the E3 and although I never actually went to the event myself it always was a time of year were every company that had anything worthwhile to show would show it to the public. This meant that within minutes all the news of all the cool stuff to be released in the coming months would be online in no time combined with all the cool trailers and demos.
Now we'll just see a dispursion of the same news over a longer period of time and over way many different "channels". Although this is good for the big studio's who kinda have the major tech news sites check their press releases anyways, it's a bit of a pain for the smaller studio's as I think it will now be harder for them to show what they got to offer us and for that to actually spread.
