not quite - with the current $/£ exchange rate, its a billion fairly small ones...

But then, Microsoft is dropping a billion big ones on that extended warranty scheme, so who knows?
Sony drops price on PlayStation 3...
...in the US, anyway.
In the month or so running up to E3 there have been a lot of rumours about a PS3 price drop, with leaflets from Circuit City appearing to show the drop before Sony had announced one. This lead to all sorts of talk about shops lowering the price unofficially because they felt they couldn't sell them at the current price.
It's likely that Sony didn't want to announce it until E3, but whether forced or not, they've now announced new price points, and even a new SKU, for the PS3.
The 60gb will drop to $499 and they will introduce an 80gb that will come bundled with Motorstorm, at the $599 price point.
This brings the 60gb very close to the Xbox 360 Elite, intensifying the battle at that price point.
It will be interesting now to see whether Microsoft reciprocates with a drop at e3. The 360 has been out a lot longer, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see it get a drop, across the board, before the holiday season.
