Edinburgh! we've been ALMOST everywhere else come on come to edinburgh there's SO much to do and it's such a beautiful city plus I've done all the research as to where we could stay and we have someone local to check it out in case it's not as nice as they claim it is.

Hi Folks,

Usually when we look into organising a party we try to look for the following:

* Reasonably priced (approx £60 per room per night maximum) hotel, preferably with free/cheap car-parking.

* Cheap/free venue within walking distance of the hotel.

* Things to do (i.e. shopping, cinema, pubs, bowling, whatever you fancy) within walking/public transport distance of the hotel.

* Location that’s within 2 – 2.5 hours travel for the majority of people (so that it minimises travel costs – it also means that folks who are working on the Friday have a chance to get there in time to do stuff on the Friday night ).

There are other considerations too, but they’re the basics. So if you know of somewhere that fits the bill then please let us know!

I voted for Cambridge but would also be happy with Birmingham, Milton Keynes and anywhere that falls between the three

I voted Manchester as it has venues and hotels that fulfil the requirements and is only 2 hours from London by train or an hours flight for less than £50 return.

But who am I kidding. There's no way the T-party will ever be held north of Birmingham.

I went for Birmingham, but that's purely for convienience on my part as it's the closest place to me. However I can just as easily get to Nottingham, and Cambridge isn't too much of a trek.

Having said all that, it still all depends on when this shindig happens anyway as to whether or not I can afford it and am available!

I voted for Brum but would be happy with cambridge or anywhere around that area.

Everywhere else is too far for Mandy to drive

Perhaps the reason of the whole poll? To gather input from the people that actually go. What's the point in holding it in Manchester is 2 out of 30 people want it there?

I appreciate that Manchester was certainly suggested (by you amongst others), but in answer to the statement about travel, about 90% of the flights (That I've found in the last 15 minutes anyway with the exception of BMI) go from Stansted (If that's the case, we're as well holding it in Cambridge) or Gatwick (And if that happens, we'd be as well going the whole hog and holding it in Brighton!

To extend my post a bit more I would also do London, MK, Birmingham & at a push Manchester. Won't be going further north than that 'tho.

I hate to be a killjoy, but I'm officially stating that Edinburgh and Vegas are out of the running (Both of which being completely unviable )

I'm in Vegas in May anyway Glad about Edinburgh being out of the running too.

London or MK for me -

There's loads to do in MK and some very cheap hotels as well (I should know been dealing with them all long enough for Showmasters LOL).

As it's 292 miles from Birmingham, 397 miles from London, 417 miles from where I'll be living around that time (over 7 hours by car).

For everyone that lives in or below London it would basically be undoable or hugely expensive to travel all the way up to Edinburgh. It would also involve taking an additional day or 2 off for many people as a 7 hour car journey, long train journey, or flying (2 hours before check-in & getting to the airport etc) isn't something you embark on in rushhour over the m25 on a Friday after work & Sunday morning with your T-party hang-over.

As far as we are aware (staff) the majority of people live in easy traveling distance from the cities mentioned in this poll. Although I know it's "unfair" to our North'n brothers and sisters they are somewhat of a minority (as far as we are aware). And as we are trying to attract as many people as possible to such an event (and we don't have the appeal of a convention with special guests etc (it's just a big party)) putting it all the way up North might not be the best way to attract the largest number of people. Also organizing it would be a bit tricky due to the lack of staff members in that particular area.

Fair enough. It's not actually that expensive to get there though via train etc. Hell even I wouldn't drive that distance - I'd fly or get the train.

But as Kat said - she's already done a load of research into what's available and Rana lives near there so she could help with the organisation too if needed I'm sure. *Shrugs*

But anyway - I didn't vote for the area so it's not like I'm disappointed it's not being considered. Just wondered why it was a definite no more than anything.

I wouldnt do anything where id *have* to get the train as i expect ill have loads of raffle prizes so I'd need to somewhere drivable to.
