Jealous Events - Dead and Gone?

Not sure how many people from here have access to the Jealous Events boards and/or bought a ticket for their events next year but it seem that Jealous Events are no more.

Earlier this week reports of the site being hacked were made, however, TWO of their staff members also resigned, members of their forum (me included) had their accounts deleted and when trying to re-register were held in a validating queue or struck off and deleted again.

On doing research and from reading other message boards it seems that Jealous Events have applied via Companies House for a proposal to be "Struck Off". From what we know this means that they wish to cease trading and have not traded in three months or have any creditors.

The trading issue is wrong for a start as they recently held the Halloween Ball and as far as the other boards go there are still alot of people owed money from Jealous from their past event. They were still selling tickets for Angelus and Slayer for next year as well.

Today their forums were taken off-line so NO-ONE has access to their site now. Apparently phone numbers for Jealous have been disconnected too.

I'm bringing this to the attention of T21 members in case those that are in support of the Jealous Events activities are made aware that this has happened.

So far, no-one who has tried to contact Jealous have had any success in doing so and there is no official word on what has happened.

Hi im new to T21 but i tried to log on to the Jealous events website today as i havent been on there since the beginning of Nov as i have been trying to get a refund for the Angel event as things i paid for didnt happen or wasnt announced so i missed it and therefore lost alot of money. Im in the process of taking them to county court to make a claim for my losses but looks like its going to be harder now. They were supposed to be starting up a new website and i though would be up and running now if not soon did you hear anything about that as for them just taking off this is the first i knew about it

I'm no legal eagle but surely if they've applied to Company's House to be struck off and a group of people were to write to Company's House telling them that Jealous Events owes them money then it would halt the whole thing??

Also has anyone tried contacting Watchdog or some sort of newspaper service which deals with these things??

Ally - as Milky says you would need to contact Companies House to put an objection in. They can only close up if there are no outstanding creditors as far as I am aware.

As far as I know alot of people are in the dark due to the fact that they seem to have disappeared off the face of the world.

I know there are a group of people on the Jealous Events Complaints Board that are owed money and I believe they may be taking some sort of action - perhaps its an idea to go there to get up to date info (if there is any) to see what's happening?

Hi i contacted companies house and il copy you their reply so that there is some hope at the end of the tunnel for people like me who lost money at the David Boreanaz event

i emailed them back with the info that i had on the flyer i got from the event stating that there has just been and is coming up very soon some events that people would of paid for like the Halloween ball and the Zion matrix event in London at the end of the month also the slayer event angelus event and not forgetting the so called LA trip they were organising costing Â£1,695, so maybe everyone should contact companies house with their complaints and the fact that they plan to take it to court and then see what happens and yep watchdog again would be an excellent idea

Well a big welcome to T21, I'm just catching up on some of the threads this evening.

I didn't go to the DB event but obviously I saw the Watchdog thing which didn't really cover much in my opinion. I guess I was watching it from a con-goer point of view where you expect certain things to be running late and for schedules to be swapped and changed on the day.

Of course the big thing with the Jealous events was that you were pretty much paying ON TOP for every single extra - (so if something didn't happen there was bound to be come back) This was one reason I personally never would have afforded to go. At most of the UK conventions taking place (and many of us pointed this out in original threads) you normally got one auto included in a weekend ticket.

I do feel for the many fans who were new to events that went to the DB event in the hope of meeting their fav Angel star and believing that this sort of pricing structure was the norm. Although to be fair, nobody knows what sort of costs Jealous had to pay to secure some of the guests.

Many UK conventions sell out among con-goers online or via word of mouth so very few of these (Starfury/Sector14/Wolf) used to get around to mass public advertising on the scale that Jealous reached (ie a new market for them)

That being said, if Jealous had got the formula right and satisfied the majority of the attendees then it would be assumed that it wouldn't have reached this stage

Yea i sure hope so as id like some of the many hundreds of pounds back that i spent on a day that should of been a million times better. Ive been told but not sure how true but it cost jealous events apparently Â£250,000 to have David Boreanaz there for the 3 days

Your objection to the dissolution has been logged and strike off action has been suspended.

You have mentioned that you are a creditor of the company and that the company is still trading. I would be grateful to receive the flier that you mentioned in your e-mail. I have contacted the directors of the company to request their comments

Should it prove necessary, I would be grateful if you could confirm whether you would be agreeable for your identity, as the complainant, to be disclosed to the directors of the company.

I'm writing from Dublin, Ireland and this is the first chance I've had to check out Jealous Events on the web. I was at the Angel event in Brighton last year. Am very worried about all that I've read. As I'm from outside the UK is there any why I can claim back all the money I've spent on the event on things which I've not received YET.
The last reply I've gotten from them was back in November.
Very worried!!!

How did you pay for the stuff? Was it via a credit card? As the only way I can think you may be in with a chance is getting in touch with your credit card company and claim back from them that's what alot of people seem to have done.

Paid cash but got a receipts! Dont' know if they are worth the paper they are written on at this stage! Have totally learnt my lesson

The only thing I can possible suggest is get in touch with your local Trading Standards office then......

Have a look at These Boards as well as quite a few disgruntled customers set this up to see if there was anything that could be done as well.

Sorry to hear about the loss though.... it does suck when convention/event organisers treat their fans this way.

Why not have a look at The Events Rescue boards as well. It's a pretty new board/forum but it's comprehensive about ALL events and conventions and a great way of finding out which ones are the better ones to attend
