Just a little report on last weekend (I'm lagging behind )
Guests in order were Wayne Pygram (Scorpious from Farscape), Laura Bertram (Trance from Andromeda) and Anthony Simcoe (D'argo from Farscape) There had been a couple of unfortunate guest cancellations due to flight concerns and pilot season - neither can be helped.
Wayne's first question was someone remarking on his Patrick Stewart resemblance. He commented that he has a severe wheat allergy, and when he wasn't aware of this he became very gaunt. In a picture published in a magazine someone put a comment saying he looked like Patrick Stewart on crack!!!! It has to be pointed out that he would still happily perform as Scorpious in a season 5 if the show EVER gets the chance.
Laura seemed to be a complete ball of fun. Well to put it more bluntly if anyone had strapped her down I think her head would have exploded. She cannot stand still for a second and her enthusiasm bubbled around the hall. Laura mentioned a fair bit about Kevin Sorbo (Hunt), Brent Stait (Rev Bem) and Gordon Michael Woolvett (Harper) but nothing about the other cast members ?!? As with a lot of con going actresses you suddenly realise how tall people look on screen and then how tiny they are in real life (cue note the majority of buffy/angel actors spring to mind)
Actually leading on from that - someone asked her about guest actors on Andromeda and she mentioned James Marsters (why him who knows *sigh..*) but I had to giggle when she commented that he was supposed to be a tall powerful character and they had him in 3inch high kick boots *snigger* (it has to be said that he's smaller than me and I'm 5'8"
Anthony pranced onto the stage wearing a "Jane does Dick" tshirt and asked if anyone in the audiece was called Jane. He's a dirty foul mouthed guest. I don't mean that in a bad way. But it was really strange watching him bounce around (another one who you thought would implode if strapped down!!) f'ing and blinding in a very honest manner. I really wondered how he managed to restrain himself to play D'argo. Although I would imagine the restrictive costume must set your mind as a character.
He described that his audition come down to him and Lani Tupu both going for the D'argo character. For some obscure reason, the final casting had both of them having to turn up in boxershorts (to see the muscle definition for adding costumes etc) He commented that this was the most kinky perverted thing. In the end apparently they decided whoever was picked for D'argo the other actor would become Crais. It was easier to say Lani would be Crais, so Anthony effectively became D'argo by default. And the better choice in my opinion
After a very smooth autograph session, we got ready for the party. The fancy dress entrants were few but fantastic. The baby Chiana was a star and I hope someone got pics of her. The quality made a HUGE difference from the buffy cons where its "vamp this" and "vamp that" ... basically people in normal clothes with vamp teeth in
Even though I sang to just about every song going, with such few people ON the dancefloor, my legs just really couldn't be bothered to play. So JtB and myself basically chairbopped whilst Morph took the piss.
Roll on EoD's, but I'm going to have to pace myself over 3 (maybe 4 nights) if I want to dance to more than 5 songs in about 6 hours!!!!
