Anyone else volunteer for Stewarding duties?

i'm tempted as you get to sit in the first 3 front rows at the talks, but thats the only good thing reeally, all the stewards were dissapointed at bad girls about the stewards party as they thought they'd get to meet the guests and be given a certificate signed by them all, but the guests didn't show, they did get a certificate though. but yeah if i think i'll have time i'll steward but its always quite busy each day i found, however my room mate did abbout 1 hours stewarding when she was supposed to be doing loads so she got out of loads which was pretty cool i may have to follow in her footsteps

You have to volunteer in advance, let them know when you're arriving and leaving, and what you're willing to do, I don't know if they accept people wandering up saying "I've got a spare five minutes, if I help out now can I sit at the front later?"

Spike, that would be very cruel

I know from other years at the conventions that if stewards don't turn up for their duties it can be very unfair for those that have been working hard. The joy of stewarding is to get to know people and be helpful if you have the time to do that as well as having fun

Due to circumstances beyond my contro, yadda yadda, yadda, I'll no longer be at Eclipse, but I'll still be at Homecoming.

dev many the wonders i this day have seen, the sun when first he kissed away the tears

Apparently,at N3K,there were a few people who decided they liked the idea of good seats in return for some work.They decided they didn`t like the work part of the deal, once assigned a duty,just wandered off and left the Head Steward`s to cope.
My best advice is to anyone who is thinking of stewarding,but has never done it before-be prepared to work and earn the little `extras`like seat preference.Although there is no guarantee of this as the stewards seating area won`t necessarily have seats for all stewards,so, if this is your only reason to help out,you could be disappointed.

I shall volunteer for stewarding again this year (makes mental note to tell them). I had no complaints about Andy's handling of stewards at N3k. He did his absolute best to arrange things so I could still see the talks and so on that I wanted, and I then I wound up looking after the guests' doors while Nick and Joss were on stage (about 10 feet away) - ok, so I was lucky...

The party was fun too, but I didn't actually get to take advantage of the seating (too many non-steward friends!).
