And if your nice we may also take you on 'the tour'
Edinburgh...
well upon my leaving a lot of Tangent regulars said they would love to visit (maybe some were just being polite who knows) EvilLaywerChick and myself have done some looking around and found a place that's really cheap but could possibly involve sharing a DORM.....anybody up for that? Sounds like fun to me
well it wont be for anytime soon due to all the recent conventions and meets and some of the cons coming up so maybe early next year (so this gives everyone the time to get a weekend off work or save mula) but we were wondering who was up for coming to an edinburgh meet and when is best. we can kinda get an average of when everyone's available and who wants in.
the place to stay is a hostal but it boasts many good things and is very cheap the website is princesstbackpackers.com/west okay so it's a backpackers hostal but it looks really cool.
its facilities include
self-catering kitchens
payphone
several television rooms
lounge areas
backpackers bar
POOL COMPETITIONS
quiz nights
live music
drink promotions
and get this
PUB CRAWLS
and there are no curfews.
the rate would be as follows... (and as pp/pn)
Dorm £12
Twin/Double (2 people) £16
Triple (3 people) £15
Quad (4 people) £16
figure a dorm would be a lot more fun but it's all down to you lot.
Anywho as i said for now it's just to get number and see whose interested and when is the best time for everyone.
I'm still waiting on more info from the hostal so updates as they come in.
so post ya name and a month/date that you might be free and we'll see which comes up the most and go from there.

I love Edinburgh. T21 does Rose Street would rock! We can see who all the real lightweights are Plus the Hostal idea sounds pretty cool & cheap (which is nice)
So count me in for this even though i don't know either of you, I'm a friendly kinda gal
Time wise I think i'm availiable pretty much anytime, but after Christmas would be nice - to help with the pennies situation.

Hmm, perhaps not, wouldn't want to give the wrong impression. Rose Street was well renowned in the old days for its 'red light area' it was the main place in Edinburgh (after the docks)

It doesn't matter if you don't know us (your more inclined to come if you don't so you wont run away in fear!) Glad to see such rapid interest. Everyone is welcome!
We are also looking into doing the midnight tour if people are interested. Our 'sources' tell us that if we get enough people they shall run a midnight one just for us (a private one)
Count me in - havent been north of the 3 foot wall for a while and need to stock up on hagis, scotch pies (sainsburys ones just aren't the same!) and square sausage!
Any time would be cool - and dorm sounds excellant (as well as cheap!) - just need notice to sort out time off work, though am off the week of Jan 12th

Me, me, me, me, me!! Though you both already knew that
Any time in the New Year is fine with me. The only booking I have so far is School Disco on my birthday (2nd weekend of Jan), other than that I'm all yours

I only ever visit the folks up there, with a lack of drinking and partying invloved, so might well be up for this. Next year is good on a meet spacing basis, though no idea what i'll be doing when due to shifts.
Haven't been up to Edinburgh for ages, would be cool to see the place again.
Couldn't tell you when I'm free next year, too early to tell (I might even be in a new job by then *fingers crossed*) so throw dates around and I'll see if I can make it nearer the time

Yeah I'd be up for a night out in Auld Reekie...it's only up the road anyways...I might be able to get crashing space for people as well although don't hold me to that.
Lothian Road is probably what Sydney was on about but I don't think it's that great..Grassmarket is better

now would be the best time, saw the end of Edinburgh festival firworks wilst on an archaeological excavation in Dumfries in 1996 and it was fantastic.
However anytime will be good for me, particulary as for a year Edinburgh will be closer and easier to get to than London.

Already told you this, but yep! (obviously depending on timing/money etc etc..)

Yeah Baby! I'm there
Hopefully going to come see you before then too
Edinburgh sounds fun, I guess that really is the limit of my car. I'll prolly get a coach to this one

Actually, nay, changed my mind. My car can get anywhere.
Only 16000 miles to go til the 200 000 party

Taken from the hostel website ...
Hope I can make it
EEEK - didn't realise I'd need a passport for Edinburgh
You'll not be inconvenienced with silly curfews or lockouts- we want you to enjoy your time in our beautiful city. We do ask, however, that all persons who stay with us must present a passport, identity card or other official photo ID when checking in.
Hope I can make it
oops! Maybe I've got the street name wrong then, is it Princes Street i'm thinking of But theres a big long street with about thirty or so pubs on it - The only one whos name i can remember is The Auld Hundred - When i was at uni we'd have a yearly trip to do an all day pub crawl along it starting at 11am. Hense why I can't remember the names of any of the other pubs

Nah Syndey, you were right, it is Rose street, and it's not a bad suggestion for a bit of a crawl.
I love Edinburgh me
I was up for the festival last weekend, and am heading back up for the bank holiday weekend.
Would be good to meet up with ELC & EW for a pint and a show.
