Random question, but this just popped into my head. If it's a charity account, are there not rules (or laws) against using it for something that isn't a charity? Just wondering..

Would that not have been reccomended when you wanted to use it for the Parachute charity jump though? Did the bank know you'd be using it for commercial purposes?

It's the one that was recommended to fit our needs by HSBC, so I'd say it's okay.
I was of the thinking that charity accounts get all sorts of tax breaks and advantages, so using them for commercial purposes could be construed as fraudulent.
Was just wondering though because i wasn't sure
Apparently it's okay, as it's just a normal bank account just with a couple of restrictions, one of them being the lack of internet banking facilities etc.
Hiya, my plus one can't make it anymore, is there any chance of getting the ticket tenner back on the night? I don't remember reading anywhere that it was non-refundable so it'll come in handy for vodka money
Or, as I'm a ditz that hasn't got round to buying her ticket yet, would it be a big problem/no-no/bad thing if I buy Yvonne's extra ticket off her?

Yes they did. They know we are a website community, not a registered charity. In my experiance as treasurer of a registered charity for a number of years, I know that in order to receive the kind of benefits you mentioned, you need to supply your charity number. Of course we don't have one, and HSBC are fully aware of the nature of the group.

The fact that it is called T21 fundraising was initially for the parachute jump, now it is fundraising for the purpose of paying for the server to keep the site up and running.
HSBC are aware of this and it was their decision to set us up with one for their 'clubs and charities' accounts. The reason for the choice was so that we could ensure that more than one staff member could sign on the account.
Hope that answers your question more fully Maff.
Yvonne, if you want a refund on the ticket just let me know where you want it posting to, its not a problem. Equally if its alright by you to sell your extra ticket to RedWitch, I guess you'll sort it out between yourselves?

Thanks Tam, it'll be passed to RW
