Why would there be no monthly event though? I agree with what T said earlier in this thread, when I come down sarf' it's to catch up with all my mates, get drunk and have some fun. I don't do episodes so I'm not a big fan of Pages..why go out if you want to watch tv

If Nos was to stop I wouldn't be overly fussed as I think the majority of us would still meet in London and go out, hell it'd probably be cheaper and at least you wouldn't get people telling you to shush while you're talking.

The only other thing I'm not too keen on Nos for is that it seems to have gotten slightly clique, nobody talks and nobody mingles...even the T21 seem to have develeoped into cliques which is kinda sad.

Ah well, no Nos for me this month, I'm going up to Scotland for a proper night out...I'm looking forward to the T-Party though

I can see people's points of view with not coming due to the boredom factor, atmosphere etc etc but if you have ideas to make the nights better why not let Stuart know? He has a yahoo mailing list sector14@yahoogroups.com post on there and hopefully the Nos Nights will return to what they were before. I hadn't looked at this thread for a while as I can't go myself, but I'm a little shocked that a thread asking if people are attending a meet got very messy for no reason I had just responded to a similar entry elsewhere and decided to copy and paste it here too:

When I first started going in early 2000 (Nos 4 or 5 I think) they were only every couple of months and easier to save up for the travelling and drink money. Because there was nothing else on similar anywhere (that we all knew of) it was exciting and new and we could all view episodes together and all laugh and discuss them.

Now there are many groups that separate off and meet privately due to the friends they have made (added some people may refer to these as cliques - but they are chosen friendships, people with other similar interests/areas as far as I see it.). As well as the amount of conventions and other sites that hold activities - people don't always have the need or money to want to visit London EVERY month for what equates to a 6 hour evening at max! This is probably enhanced by the fact people are now viewing *whatever episodes* in the comfort of their own homes at differing intervals.

It all starts getting complicated when someone doesn't want to go because their buddy isn't going, which in turn means someone else doesn't want to go.

However, it seems that many people view Buffyuk or Tangent21 as the ONLY people going to these meets ... this isn't true. That's just trying to be too cocky, I think these meetings will continue, but on what scale I wouldn't know as that would depend on how far regular convention go-ers and other board-users have to travel.

Of course the Nos nights had their highest activity when Sector14 were running conventions as many wanted to be on the buzz when things were announced.

My problem is I just don't have the money to do the trip every month when so many Nos nights have blurred into one for me. The last one I did was March 2003 (I think) and it still is very fresh in my mind - I don't feel I'm missing it on a personal level.

There will always be younger fans that will start to enjoy them like we did as long as the advertising is in the right place.

But I can't understand why people have to make a big song and dance each month being negative on T21 about why "they aren't going" .... why can't the postive or maybe people post instead



Sorry to sound like I'm complaining, but I still think these type of meets are still very important to some members

Well, i fully intend to attend those I'm available for (which will be the majority).

I mean, there's friends I've made who attend that are seperate from T21 & that's what I like about it.

Of course I'd like to see more of my friends more often, but that's just a down side to what I consider to be generally good days/nights spent with friends.

Although I haven't been to a Nos for over a year now, it's been because of a lack of cash. I loved going to the Nos nights because it gave me a chance of a good night out with a group of like-minded people. I realise that many people are now getting fed up of the episodes (it was starting to happen whilst I was still able to go), and I can understand why. However, the episodes were a vital part of the evening and the only opportunity for many of us lowly BBC only viewers and so yes, the noisy people were going to get hushed. You could always do what a lot of people do and go elsewhere (cheaper) to drink whilst the episodes are on.

It seems to me that a lot of people are losing interest in the video phenomena due to the ease of downloading and sharing the 'new' episodes and films. It might be an idea for the evenings to change to help revitalise the events. Perhaps a couple of guests or themed night would work. Maybe they should run another kiss-a-thon or some other charity events to recreate some interest. Nos is turning more into a place for people to meet and drink rather than for the viewings.

Like Taz said, there's not just T21 people who go along, I've got friends from the various conventions and events who go along to these things as well.

I, for one, wish I could go along to more.

thing is, overall less people are there, especially Saturday, its the emptiest i've seen it, only a few tables were actually taken. Actually it may jsut have been our table. then there were a few people down the lower part, but it was basically empty. I think anyone who does or did enjoy Nos should email him with ideas. We all liked it at soem point and don't you all want it to still be good like you once thoguht it was?

Stuart is very approachable and willing to listen, so if you have a workable idea then go for it

You may not have realised but there was quite a big Stargate convention at the weekend - I know a number of regulars were attending

PPS. I'd be interested to know from any other Nos regulars who post on here whether they feel I have ever made a Nos night 'unbearable'. If so, I will apologise.

Hmmm, as someone that gave on up Nos for all the same reasons as you about two years ago, I have to say you were one of the reasons I kept going, no one can quite "I Quit" the way you do baby!
