The T-Party has always been an annual party run by the staff for the members of T21. Input has been welcomed in the last few years, especially for the music as you are all aware

Obviously we would rather the Tparty be officially hosted by T21 staff. Personally I have already been preparing the bits for the next party, ie raffle prizes that can be gathered in advance.

I had already put out feelers for 2006 a few months ago as some members had shown good feedback to wanting something to attend towards July - September time when there aren't other events to attend (or when Christmas hasn't just stretched them) Members were also showing an interest in chopping and changing and trying things at different times of years. It is not feasible for me to organise the T-party during the first quarter, and suggestions were made about having a theme park weekend earlier in the year, and then the T-party later (even if it's a one off for 2006 )

This naturally opens up other alternatives for members to do their own T21 event during the first quarter. Many members have organised school disco events, kareoke meets, pub evenings, so it is entirely up to you.

Personally I've never made a T-Party yet for one reason or another but if I were to go and it was on a weekend when I could make it - I'd certainly prefer it to be held in a more southern area.

I can understand the whole having it more central in the UK to make it easy for people to travel to etc, but how many T-Party attendees are actually from all over the UK? I think at the last one most people I knew that did go were London/Surrounding area based (although I could be wrong).

I think that the date(s) chosen should be advertised way in advance as well - what with so many events/conventions/meets being planned in advance these days too it makes sense to give the members more than three months notice. I for one, have stuff planned already for the first 6 months of next year!

We like to give as much notice as possible to allow people to save for hotel/travel/drink However, we have always given more than 3 months notice, but even then, it seems that events or gigs can still be announced between us arranging and announcing the T-Party.

In particular, there are 2 regular conventions in February and there have been members who would have liked to have done those as well as the T-Party but have been unable to do so due to dates.

Although it is appreciated that not all T-Party attendees have, or are interested in convention-going, it would be nice to have an even balance to fit everything in but there are always other factors that will mean not everyone who wants to will be able to make it, because of work commitments, distance, funds etc. Certainly the lack of suitable access to this years event hampered one member, and whilst there wasn't time to address it for 2005, we will look into that for the future

It seems that *most* members who attended this year were south of the M6 especially as a few people have moved further southwards in the last few years. The main thing we would be interested in doing is having a proper poll in advance of the final planning to allow the members to let us know where would be more convenient for them. Factors that we are looking for again are good transport links, a reasonable priced hotel (preferably with function room) and parking, as well as some nearby entertainment for those who like to wander off afterwards I have looked at information for a number of different towns before, but it's always great to have someone with first hand knowledge of particular areas.

Please though, do not let this deviate from Ethan's discussion for something in the first few months of the year

I think go for it to be honest The T-Party was great last year and I had an excellent time, so maybe doing it this way would encourage more people to come, I don't know.

I have a zillion views on the tparty but in the end, it could be in Iceland and id still be there.

Well the idea of the original T-parties was of couorse 2-fold, firstly promote the site and secondly fund the server for the rest of the year!

But one of the things that T21 was ALWAYS supposed to be about was letting the members take a sort of "for the members by the members" approach. Personally G, I practically regard you as site staff anyway, and if you can get a party organised, and more importantly WANT to get one organised, I suggest that the staff listen to you, hand over the T-21 monogrammed reins and wish you God Speed in this endeavour

The only piece of advice I can really give is you need to balance the ease of access for the whole site vs, that of those who are really likely to attend.

For me a Tparty has been a no no because I never really knew anyone well enough and it's just too far from me. I have made a few friends (and I guess a few who not necessarily enjoy my company) and would consider going to the next one, depending on the location. Obviously the location has been to accomodate the majority and I'm not asking for a venue change, and I'm not promising a "yes" but it's not a definite "no". I think the idea sounds good though.
