I still think about the twin towers. Not as often but i do wonder how people are getting on now.

And it was good to hear that the people of new york have cleared the site in record time. Hopefully soon the physical scar will be gone and replaced with another landmark.

It wont replace the twin towers, or make us forget the tradgerdy but it will be a symbof of recovery. Not to mention a finger in the eye for the taliban.

Also, slightly off topic here, but after Sept 11th there were alot of anthrax scares then it all went quiet. Anyone heard anything recently? do they know who was doing it? Have there been any more cases?

i don't think aboutt hem now really but i think it'll be something that stays with me throughout my entire life same as princess dianas death, its a very big event that happened and will always be looked back on in the future as a certain big point in history.

Just seen a lot of photos from New york as it is now, and it's looking good. They did a marvellous job.

I still think about it quiet a lot, the person Im going to meet lives in Ny and although didnt lose anyone directly connected to him he knew people who did . I don't think its so much that people forget about it as that its something that gets put to the back of our minds. It's like with a lot of things, there not there constantly but we do remeber and things like this helps us to remeber them. Just this thread alone made me think of a few things already today that I havent in a while.

Didn't the FBI arrest someone in connection? Haven't heard anything further. I think it is now beyone doubt that the Anthrax scares were NOT connected to foreign terrorism, but were the work of an (probably former) US Government employee with a grudge.

Yep, I still think about 9/11 on quite a regular basis. Often I'll find myself having a flashback or seeing things that remind me of that day when I least expect it. Sometimes it'll be a film I'm watching that'll remind me or just what something someone says.

i do still think about it, i know people who live there and glad there ok.
ive kept newspapers from that whole week, to remind myself of that day, not in a morbid sense but as a record of history, something to show children, to tell them that we should always be grateful for what we have, and to love every day no matter what is thrown at us as a human race.
i think most people try to not so much forget about it as try not to think about it, as its better to get on with our lives as a defiance to the perpetrators of it. thats what the new yorkers did, and it was a two fingers salute!good on them that its back to 'normal'

I still think about it, probably most days. There are so many little things that remind me, it's mentioned on the radio, or I'm watching Seinfeld or Sex and the City or something else that's set in New York. I'm not sure I'll ever forget how I felt that afternoon: I was sat at work, I had no radio, no tv, and I couldn't access any news on the Internet. All we could find out was what people were hearing in phone calls and emails from people they knew. I felt so out of touch and so lost, I didn't know if the world as we knew it was about to end and I couldn't find anything out... The sheer shock and horror that I felt for the best part of a week afterwards isn't something I'm going to forget in a hurry.

That day still haunts me. As my family and I have very close ties with Americans and we have a place there but also as my dad was in America and that I saw the WTC just 5 days before sep 11th. It really struck me as we were flying over NYC that I am so near to Ground Zero, where many thousands were murdered. I always spare a thought for people who perished and for their families and friends. I don't think America will be the same. Just having got back from the USA, and everyone is very patriotic. They have flags everywhere and anti terrorist stickers. I think thats cool coz it shows support for not only the country but the families and friends who lost lives.

I also remember that day as it was yesterday. I remember sobbing so hard and watching the TV for hours that night whilst my best friend sat and cried hysterically. Now that girl is not my best friend anymore but having shared that awful day together I know I will feel some sort of compassion towards her. That sounds really sick but I know how she felt coz she had been up the WTC and she loves NYC. Its something I will tell my children about, its a very important part of all our lives.

I'm peripherally aware of it all the time. Either through contact with an American friend or customer, or more regularly, through its aftermath in Afghanistan and Palestine.

My afternoon that day was not pleasant, I had both my bosses plowing through web and radio news for more information as it happened, and my American flatmate in the next office, who quite naturally took it very bad. Personally, I have a real problem with rubber-necks, so I had to ask for the radio to be turned off as I couldn't work otherwise. It coincided with a fairly major period of depression by my standards, so I don't think I'll forget it for a long time.

Wow, I really didn't realise how many it still effects, other than the obvious families of people who were lost. I still wonder if it will impact me enough, I remember where I was when it happened, when I'm old and grey... but I hope I don't forget it, because it was such an important moment in history.
