reading leeds fest bill

well for those who r gonna be goin, i was but since im now gettin a flat up in toon thats that idea out the window, plus half of the band shave already playered there so meh!

it goes kinda like, in august

23 reading, 24 leeds, has strokes, pulp, weezer and white stripes

23rd leeds only Guns n roses headline ONLY leeds tho, prodigy

24 reading 25 leeds, foo's, muse, ash, andrew wk, sum 41 less tahnm jake,

plus slipknot, incubus and nofx are expected to be announced as playing as well, for more stuff go to the nme site

Incandenza It's not a zero-sum game.

Tickets for this are likely to sell quite quickly I would think (although rumours yesterday of selling out appear to have been ill founded) so anyone wanting to go might want to pop over to mean fiddler's website sharpish.

i doubt that the tickets will sell out that fast, they hardly ever sell out, plus its been the last festival announced so most people will have bought tix for glasto or v or T in the park. i dont think they'll sell out cos theyve had better line ups before at leeds and theyve never sold out once evebn when the tix have been on sale since march up till august

Well it now looks like I'm going to Leeds! It'll be my first ever festival. I've never fancied going to one before, I hate camping at the best of times, so doing it with several thousand complete strangers in a place with inadequate and revolting toilet facilities and where you face the possibility of sleeping in a mud-bath didn't really appeal!

But the line-up for this years festival is just soooo cool, I couldn't resist.

What have I let myself in for?

nah the toilets arent that bad youve just got to go to them b4 about 10 in the mornin!
as for mud, got to ssay in the last 3 years ive been goin its never relay been that bad on the weather front, ok its rained at times but its never been anywhere as stupid as glasto for mud!

The mud's a lot more noticable when you're dumb enough not to take a change of (ridiculously baggy!) jeans

my mate 2 years ago took one pair of shoes not realisng they had a huge hole in the bottom, needles to say when the mud came his shoe got rather full!!, we attempted to dry the socks he had on , out on our washin line (some bamboo we found woth a shoe lace attached to to the tent) after the sun had been out we checked on them, rock hard they were, they actully dried folded over and were now more akin to a brick than sock!!!

URGH! I remember the year of Glastonbury with the mud. I had to buy a pair of wellies for Â£15 from some man as I only had trainers and several pairs of unsuitable shoes (there had been heatwaves every other year I went). I can visualise this really easy

I'd love to see the Prodigy and Offspring but I don't think I have the money to spend or the legs to stand on to enjoy a festival, can't exactly see me at the front with a chair

When I was younger I might have enjoyed seeing GnR's (I even dated my own Axl lookalike once) - I love the Appetite for Destruction era but the later stuff got boring.

I love the Appetite for Destruction era but the later stuff got boring.

Sacrilege!!!! You Could Be Mine, Dead Horse, Dust n' Bones and Pretty Tied Up are all rockin' tunes. And then there's the beauty of tracks like November Rain, So Fine and Estranged. And not to mention one of my favourites: Coma. And all the punk covers they did were pretty cool too!

OK I let you off slightly as November Rain is a classic song.

I did like You Could Be Mine and also Garden with Alice Cooper .. but the whole Appetite album was fantastic, the others just didn't have the same complete feel.

Lets not forget the covers of Live and Let Die and Knockin' on Heaven's Door (What we have here is failure to communicate), 14 Years (God bless Izzy) and You Could Be Mine plus Since I Don't Have You from The Spaghetti Incident.

Well, I just coughed up the Â£100 quid necessary for a weekend ticket in Reading - so is anyone here going to be there, or are you all off to Leeds?

As for GnR - Appetite rocked, Lies was pretty cool, but both Use Your Illusions sucked. Big Time. But then, I ain't off to Leeds, so I won't be seeing a bunch of session musicians messing with my memories...
