cant say ive ever go that emotional over a flim, as for 'its a wonderful life ' pah am i the only one who doesnt like the sapppy tagged on happy ending!!! i mean its rubbish, we talked about it in my media class, and everone loves the feel good ending forgetin for most of the film hes a nasty piece of work who ends up livin in a town that he hates and resenting his brother! i just feel the ending was put on so that audiences would feel so sad. grrr
Film Scenes that make you emotional
Me, him and Sydney have just watched A Time To Kill.
The summation scene near the end, from Matthew McConaughey had me choked up with tears, and it made me think, what other films, or scenes from films, have that same emotional effect on you?

Okay, you totally missed the point.

What the film is saying is that you don't have to be a Saint or never have resentful thoughts about people to be a good, decent human being. It's what you do when it matters that counts, which is what George Bailey always did.
Yes, the ending is soppy but this film was made back in the 40s. And, hey, at the end of the day, it's escapism

nah i suppose we'll have to agree to disagree for me the ending will always be a cheap scene tagged on to make people happy, its a way of making the viewer forget how much george hated his life, but then again im just cynical
Oh I forgot about this one, I love that film. A group of us watched it last Christmas and everyone was crying at the end.

The first one is the final scene of 'It's A Wonderful Life' where George Bailey finally realises how special life really is when all his friends turn up and have raised enough money to cover the money lost from the bank.
There are several...
Titanic - near the end... where she is about the throw the necklace overboard - i was convinced she was going to jump
Lion king - mufasaÂ’s death, very touching
Homeward Bound - me and mom watched that and between the happy scenes and the sad scenes we kept the box of tissues between us the whole time.
Dr Dolittle - (the first one) scenes with the tiger, heÂ’s so sad and doc helped him and made him all better I love it when people talk for animals. I like to make up what my cat (might be) thinking, sure she acts like sheÂ’s human
Stepmom - at the time I saw this movie, my grandmother was going through the same thing (cancer treatment). So whenever they showed Susan Sarandon receiving treatment, I needed a tissue. I saw this movie in the theatre (with a friend) and it was the first (and only) time I got upset in public. Also, Julia Roberts & Susan Sarandon sitting at a table and discussing her childrenÂ’s future, really upsetting
IÂ’m sure thereÂ’s more more that have made me emotional but thatÂ’s all i can think of right now.
One movie i canÂ’t understand why people lile is city of angels (i think its called). The one with Nicholas cage and he follows Meg Ryan around like a spook. I was sick to my stomach. ThatÂ’s one disturbing film. IÂ’ve hated him ever since.

Same here. Didnt mind leo dying but that poor family
by Jola
The one that springs to mind immediately is in Titanic when the ship is sinking and the mother is cradling her children
Floods of tears every time
The last film i cried at was Moulin Rouge. Becoming pt 2 always gets me (i think it's that song), up close and personal, Time to kill, The lion king *snif*,
I'm sure there are loads more too. I try to avoid really weepy films like Terms of enderment, Stepmom and Steel Magnolias 'cos i'd just be a blubbering wreck
Just remembered another.
The scene at the end of Labamba, where it comes over the radio that the plane carrying Richie Valens, Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper, crashed killing them. Major tear jerker.

Stepmom
All animal-y films-Watership Down etc
The bit in The Railway Children when Bobby sees her dad.
and more I can't think of right now!

Not sure how you can say that the ending is 'tagged on'. That's what the whole film leads up to, without it it would be a meaningless story about a guy whose life sucked so he killed himself. And they could hardly have called that 'It's a Wonderful Life' could they?

Just remembered another one. Somewhere in Time. Thats really sad
I cry really easily at films and books. I've seen Gladiator three times and bawled my eyes out at the end each time! I also cry at the part of Firestarter where Charlie's dad is killed just when they're about to escape from the bad guys. Other than those, too many to recall really...
"It's a Sucky Life" does kinda have a ring to it, though

Oooh, and going off on a tangent, you've just reminded me that Ring's on tonight! Must remember to tape it. Thanks for that!
The scene towards the end of John Woo's A Better Tomorrow II. The three main surviving characters pay their final respects to their fallen comerade and prepare for the final confrontation with the Triad boss, knowing full well they're almost certainly not coming back.
Then again, the recurring theme in Woo/Hong Kong films of honour, loyalty and remaining true to you and yours no mattter what the cost do tend to bring get to me as I see myself falling way short of those ideals.

Definalty forgot 'the Body' in the Buffy.
I can't get why all of you were moved by the Titanic... you all knew how it would end, it wasn't a shock. The boat sank, wow! Did not see that coming AND people died, a double shocker, please
Sorry, I just never got the whole Titanic thing
The Bear, a very old movie, but a TRUE weepy

Me too. I've actually just rewatched that film, but I still remember the first time I saw it. I hated the Verve (I still don't like them), but Bittersweet Symphony just fitted in that bit soooooo well. As soon as it started up I thought "Wow ... that's good", and I've liked the song ever since.

The end of "Cruel Intentions" had a bizarre effect on me too! Every time I watch it I feel emotional at the end
Chasing Amy - When Holden tells Alyssa that he loves her.
Chasing Amy - When Alyssa tells Holden about 'Fingercuffs'.
Chasing Amy - When Holden makes his proposal to Alyssa and Bankie
Edward Scissorhands - When the whole town turns on him.
Casablanca - Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow...
Dead Poets Society - Been a while since I last saw it, but when the kid gets the gun from his father's study.
Dead Poets Society - Captain, my Captain...
The Crow - Eric Draven's flash backs in his old apartment.
Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - When Felicia goes AWOL in Kupapedi (sp?).
That's all I can think of for now, but I'm sure there are others...

E.T. when he 'goes home' - a killer
Jack and Sarah - Richard E Grant - when Joely Richardson dies
The Green Mile - wept buckets
Anything remotely emotional, happy, sad, or animal related -I'll be there snivelling away!
