Film scenes that had a big impact on you

Ok, so kitty came up with the emotional ones. What about films that shocked you, made your blood run cold, or changed your whole perspective on life?

For me, one of the most horrid (but amazingly done) scenes is out of Natural Born Killers, which shows Mallory's upbringing. Its done in the style of a sitcom, along with oversaturated colour and a laugh track. Mallory's father stomps around, insulting, mistreating and hitting his daughter and his wife. He beats his wife, and from what is inferred, sexually abuses his daughter. All the way through, each time he makes some rancid comment, or leer, the audience roars with laughter...

That scene turned my blood cold and made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

The first half of Se7en. Couldnt watch the rest.

Cassino when they have that guys head in a vice! Egh!

Cry Freedom, brilliant yet disturbing film (cant believe they let me watch that in school)

American beauty for the perspective thing.

The talented Mr Ripley. the only character i liked got bumped off at the end. totally took me by surpeise.

Primal fear, excelent twist.

philadelphia, made be cry but also affected me on so may levels.

Misery, suspect, what lies benieth, And the band played on.

Ohhhhh..........

The fight between the Alien Queen and Ripley in Aliens, very tense and violent, esp. when they fall down the shaft.

Rene Russo collapsing in Ransom, when they think their son's been shot.

Yes it's Disney, but...
Tarzan, the death of the bad guy (Brian Blessed) is REALLY eerie, esp. for a Disney movie. Also in Tarzan when he and Jane meet, at the bit with the glove under the tree in the rain

Rae Your imitation of my walk, and the perfect way you talk. It's just a couple of the million things, that i love about you.

The final twist in Primal Fear also got me,
Thelma and Louise at the scene where the man tries to rape her and the other woman (i also get them mixed up),
There are some ohters too but i can't think of them at the moment.

The woman who was attacked was Thelma, played by Geena Davies, the 'other woman' was Louise, played by Susan Sarandon.
And incidentally, this is one of the movies that always affects me, watching the women change, to the point where they (especially Thelma) could never go back to their old lives.

The end of Les Diaboliques (the original obviously, not the remake, which was diabolical) - it manages to make The Usual Suspects look simplistic, ill-executed and amateurish.

Sydney You can lead the whore to culture but you can't make her think!

Any well filmed rape scenes make my blood run cold. Particular examples I found really disturbing were the one at the beginning of A Time to Kill and the senario in The Generals Daughter. I also was very nearly physically sick at the Lust murder in se7en.
