lose weight? you seemed fine if you ask me but don't let people bring you down and don't do what they say if you don't like it. i think you were stunning
Losing weight?
I've just been talking to my Mum and she suggested I join a slimming class I know I could do with losing some weight and I've been trying to get to the gym regularly, and I did lose some weight but recently I've put some back on again
I've had a look for slimming classes, the main ones seem to be Slimming World and Weight Watchers. Has anyone ever tried either of these? Are they any good? The other thing is that I don't have a lot of spare time. If I go to a slimming class once a week I'll probably have to miss a trip to the gym so would I be better trying to diet at home and keep up the gym visits?
I know that I do need to lose weight but it's still upsetting to be told so!

You seemed fine to me too. My mum is always telling me I look fat (she's twig-like) but I prefer curvy Saying that I could do with shifting a few lbs but I'm not letting it bother me too much. I lose 1/2 st on the Slim Fast diet, but soon put it on again when on holiday (I'm blaming Johnny Rockets burgers ) Are you happy with your shape? It's your body and as long as you're happy with it then stuff everyone else
I'm going to agree with Spike here. You look great and I would never in a milion years have thought that you might need to lose weight.
Another one to agree with PoF and Spike. Of course, if *you* want to lose weight because *you* want to and make yourself feel better about yourself then go for it. But don't just do it because other people are making you feel like you should.
As the others said, you looked perfectly okay to me

If you do want to loose weight i recoment the Schwartzbien principle (not sure of spelling). it's an excelent diet plan, it works, you are never hungry and it's healthy.
You can order it from Amazon

I've done both!
Slimming world is good if you cook all your meals yourself and can plan your whole day. plus you can drink more alcohol on it!!! i lost two and a half stone in three months on that.
Weight watchers is good if someone else sorts out your evening meal. its easier to incorporate whatever you're eating that evening, but it doesn't seem to be as effective as Slimming World (but that could just be me.)
If you want more info email me and i'll try to explain both plans better. (address is in profiles!)

I have to echo the advice that other people have given you White Hart. I wouldn't ahve said you needed to lsoe weight and you shouldn't diet unless you feel that you want to. Don't let it get you down hun.
My mum did the Weight Watchers Points diet and she lost just under two stones in weight, the most she's ever lost, and the best thing is that she kept the weight off.
I feel i need to lose some weight, or tone up a little.. sometimes it depresses me, sometimes i think, to heck with it. I'm "curvy" for want of a better description. Ray loves it, but then he doesn't have to live with it.

One key concept in dieting, and one that is often neglected, is that actual weight-loss may not be what you're after, you can become fitter, better toned and slimmer yet remain the same weight, due primarily to different types of fat having different densities, and most muscle being heavier than fat.
In general I'd advocate avoiding any extreme diet plan - focus on eating healthily (stick to simple, relative things - more fruit and veg, more white meat and fish, less alcohol, caffeine, fat and sugar) rather than on rigid targets (less than N thousand calories, not chocolate at all, etc), and exercise frequently and regularly (not necessarily a lot, but a little every day - sit-ups are fabulous for stomachs! Even if you can only do 1, do that one sit-up twice a day every day).
Oh, and suck in your stomach, wear black, vertical stripes and high heels

You do what makes you feel best honey.
I've got a 'weight problem' and I'm trying to get myself organised to sort it out. I looked at myself in a full length mirror at the weekend and had to accept what I've been trying to avoid - I am seriously overweight
Rosemary Conley Diet and Exercise classes are good - I lost loads when I went before, and in a few weeks time I'm going to start going again - they combine a 'weight watchers' type weigh in and chat - followed by an exercise class - so both in one evening. A good friend of mine has lost just over 2 stones in less than 6 months after having a baby by doing the Rosemary Conley Hip and Thigh diet - and she looks fab! (I'm so jealous!)
There's a web site which gives your nearest class (if you're interested)

Like everyone else has said if *you* want to lose weight then go for it but dont do it for anyone else. My mum went to weight watchers and booked a couple of sessions with a trainer, its worked out as money well spent because hes taught her exactly what excersises she needs to be doing so she doesnt need the trainer now.
Im getting the holiday blues ,where I know theres going to be loads of skinny minnies in the south of France and Im going to look like a hippo in a bikini (well not quite) but I have absolutly no drive or determination to try and tone up my stomach and thighs so I only have myself to blame!
And by the way I can so sympathise about being told to lose weight, I was always a little twig when I was a kid and Ive filled out ALOT and my nan has no tact whatsoever and just comes out with things like "god youve put alot of weight on havent you" gee thanks...

Money or weight?

My friend goes to Weight Watchers and has lost over 50 pounds so far.
Thanks guys! I didn't think I was particularly overweight either, but it's nice to have it confirmed I'd be the first to admit that I'm no Kate Moss, but I'm not exactly Jo Brand either and while I'd like to be more toned I'm generally pretty happy with myself (happier than I was when I was thinner, too).
So no dieting - I shall just try to keep up the gym sessions and cut back on the booze a bit! (Which should help enormously seeing as I think I consumed an entire day's calorie allowance in Guinness on Saturday . Oh well.)
