I don't think there's a time limit on when you have to start using pet names somehow They just come naturally at some point.

I reckon you should use whatever comes naturally, anything else would just sound silly and forced.

Shouldn't matter, just call him whatever feels natural. Although I don't see why the age should stop you calling him any of the examples you mentioned.

As for what I call my partner - don't have one at the mo (Ah! bless).

As for previous partners, I can't remember any that would be suitable for a family friendly site. But I can't say a lot of thought went into them.

Like I said, surely something should occur in your mind naturally, and that you are comfortable with?

"Decrepidooby"?

"Wrinkled retainer"?

I think nicknames kind of evolve naturally. Forcing the pace is rarely a good thing.

I understand what you mean though. Its difficult to know what terms of endearment to use in the early days of a relationship, you can't be calling him bunnykins or goldenballs when you've just met!!!

You could try "babe" (its generally more acceptable for a woman to use it on a man than the other way around)

Another tactic is to use a few different ones in a jokey fashion and she which ones he responds best to. I like sweetie as an all round genral affection term tho'

My ex used to call me babe and it made me cringe everytime. You are right Syd its more a girly saying. I think "Hun" is ok though.

Hmm, I've always been partial to Babe myself (both receiving and giving). That could explain a few things though...

Have to admit, I'm guilty of using the term 'Babe'. I don't see much wrong with it though. I guess it's all down to personal preference. Saying that though a girl at work uses the term too, and i like it, but thats it

I tend to call my other half 'babe' or 'honey'. And he's 8 years older than me so I don't think the age difference matters

At the moment I call my boyfriend "fruit loop"

To which he very romantically calls me "weirdo"!!

but other than that, he calls me "kitten" and I call him "Hun"!! nothing wrong with those others ones!! all perfectly fine, "Babe" is a good one too like everyone else said!! but yeah, go with whatever is on the tip of your tounge when your with him!! generally works!! hehe!!

I never really had the problem of trying to find a nickname for my boyfriend as even before we were together I was calling him Bunny

Other names which I have been known to call him are lover, sweetheart, love, hun, sweety, and some others which are a little more personal

Don't worry about trying to think of a name as one or more will just pop out of your mouth one day

To be honest we don't really go in for that come to think of it, but every now and then "babe" "darling" "sweetie" creeps in

I'm not really in for all that bunnykins, stuff either and my fella was getting a bit paranoid about me not using a nickname, so in the end I settled on something I didn't feel stupid saying, which is'lover', now I only address him as lover, which is a bit funny, when I'm with his mum, and it comes up on my phone as 'lover' calling. I think use a name you feel comfortable using,

Sereiously tho my normal nicknames are something like hun or darling.

I did have a boyfriend once that i nicknamed BunnyMan but there a whole long story to that one and i'm too tired to type it.

I tend to call mine 'sweetie'. Mainly cos I don't like calling people by their names...<weird> I think it's cos in my first job my boss called people by their names to excess and it sounded really over the top.

If you're from the Midlands (or even if you're not - start a trend!) you could always call him 'bab'.

Or perhaps not.
