Could you have a long term relatioship with....
a celibate
Just out of curiosity, as I know someone who is really in love with this celibate, and they don't know whether they want to go into a relationship with them
Whats your views?

I'd love to be a bigger person and say "yes, I could. It would be a struggle, but if it was someone I love I could do it" but it would be a big fat lie. The truth is I enjoy the sex too much and I couldn't trust myself not to wander

Way too frustrating. However, if your mate is really stuck on this person, then I guess they should give it a go. Just because all the signs are that you're going to get hurt doesn't mean you shouldn't stick your neck out and take a chance. Playing it safe is for the dead. Life is about taking risks and you should always follow your heart. If it doesn't work then at least you know you tried and you can move on. And you'll be a more rounded person for the experience. The worst scenario I can think of is to find yourself lying on your death bed wondering ‘what if’…

My friend once founded a Chuch of Celibacy. Everyone else dropped out one by one, and I know that she would too if she met the right person.
It depends on *why* someone is celibate. If they're just waiting for the right person, then your friend might be that person, so go for it! If they just don't want it *ever*, then I guess a long term relationship could still be possible, but only if that really was all that both people wanted!

I was going to go with the majority and say no, until I see what Spike had wrote, in which case I would definately stay in the relationship, not out of pity though, I must stress, but just simply because I love him too much, to let no sex get in the way. aaaaaahhhhhh, bless me.

I'm not sure it's a fair comparison to equate something happening to stop sex in an established relationship and entering a relationship when you know that there is no possibility of physical intimacy. Because I would never leave my other half over something like that, but I doubt we would be together if he had made it clear from the start that the relationship would not be physical.

Also, there's a big difference between an accident presenting a physical obstacle and being with someone who chooses not to indulge. I think if I was with someone who said they loved me but didn't want to sleep with me I'd worry about how attractive they really found me.
