People were asking earlier on why the other home nations find it difficult to support England in the world Cup when their own country aren't there..well here's an example...I'm watching the Italy Vs Croatia match just now. For the half time round up we've had a music video package of yesterdays England game plus conversation about the game and the English players.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it was only a group match that England won yesterday and not the World Cup Final...I'm already sick of hearing about it and England haven't even qualified yet. Not to be nasty but I hope that England do get beaten by Nigeria next week just so I can see the look on the face of Gary Linekar...wonder if they'd play a video package of that game the next day??

Do you honestly think they wouldn't have done the same thing if Ireland had beaten Germany, or Scotland (as well as qualifying) had beaten France?

We just beat one of the tournaments favourites, and a jinx (thanks to their dirty cheating ways) team for us - of course we're making a big deal about it!

It's always difficult to watch a close rival doing well in a tournament that your team hasn't qualified for, and it's only natural to try and belittle their achievements ("It's only a group game","We've won that competition more times than they have." etc. *remembers watching endless coverage of Man U's Champions' League victory in 1999 *), but whether you're English or not, or whether you can understand why people are so interested in football or not, you must know that there are an awful lot of people who love watching all the coverage.

Whether this should be shown in Scotland I don't know. That's something to take up with the Beeb.

Milky - I hate to say it but England proved you wrong. And if Scotland had beaten Argentina, then Scottish television would have done items on it ad nauseum.

Let us enjoy what was an excellent result for the next few days without feeling the need to knock it.

And Whistler you're right about Scottish tv thing, but the rest of Britain wouldnt have to suffer all bragging/gloating that would go with it like what happens with England.

Yeah but if it were Scotland we'd be hearing about it a lot more than you hear about Englad winning, coz its one of those things which is very unlikely to happen.

Actually, you know i tipped Italy to maybe win the World Cup?... well i've changed my mind... i'm thinking it could possibly be a Germany or Spain vs Brazil final... if we win today (and i'm really hoping we do), i don't think we'll beat Brazil to be honest. Ray says their defence is shocking, but would you go up against Ronaldo, Rivaldo (who, rumour has it may sign for Newcastle! ), et al? and win?... Hope i'm wrong, but i just don't see it happening.

But .... COME ON THE BOYS!!!!!
