what a horrible company!
*hugs* and I hope everything goes ok for you...
when I was a breakfast waitress I used to go in the pantry and eat cheese and freshly baked cakes!

Yes it was a bit silly of her but thats a bit strong Maff. Technically the food is still in the building and they dont know whether she was going to pay for it until she left so no it wasnt theft. A child could eat sweets in the supermarket and as long as you paid for it before you exited it isnt theft.

Well... you *didn't* pay for it before you took it, so they are right, it was theft, and they have every right to sack you.
I never let my kids eat in the supermarket 'til I've paid for the food. Actually thats slightly untrue 'cos when B was a baby he used to eat the end of a french stick. What does annoy me (and yes I do think it counts as theft) is when the mother-out-law lets them eat grapes all the way round the store and then when they're weighed the bunch is 1/4 lb lighter. I *will* try an odd grape to see if they're juicy or not but not a whole handful.

By her own admission, she felt sick because she was hungry; this isn't the same as "I was ill and was trying to prevent my having to go home".

One minor little tip: play it by this angle "What should i have done? Get sick and go home before being ill. I did what seemed best at the time I prevented me from getting ill and therefor not being able to preform my duties. I couldn't have gone to you and ask for it because before the time you would have talked to me I would have probably been sick all over you.... While i was handling the situation you interfeared and didn't even give me the time to report it afterwards that i had take the pasta and why.
Couldn't have said it better myself!!!!! Tell them to get lost Kitty.
