Spikeitis
There seems to have been a bit of an outbreak of Spikeitis at the mo, and I think people should be wary of over exposure to individuals in the throws of this fever, so as to avoid an epidemic. First there was Milky, then Sydney, and when I finally get to the point of this post I think you'll agree that I have succumbed to this disease as well. So, for your own sake, please avoid anyone displaying symptoms of this debilitating disease.
But that is not the point of this thread. Oh no. That is but a tribute to the cause, not the issue.
So to the point. I had an odd train of thought recently, and I was wondering if anyone on this site could help out. Basically, I was recently chatting to an aunt of mine on the benefits of smoking JPS. I mentioned that one of the bonuses of smoking JPS is that no one else does - to the point that if you offer them round only the truly desperate will take. Not that I'm tight, you understand...
Anyway, this set me to thinking - Who does smoke JPS? Except me, that is? Is there a generalized commonality between purchasers of JPS? I became intrigued. And then I thought that surely some members of T21 must have worked in an offy or newsagents, but did they take notice of who bought JPS? Or am I the only person in the world who smokes JPS?
However, as an afterthought and aside, I noticed that there is a royal crest on the packet, with the legend: By Royal Appointment to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Which I guess tells me of someone who used to smoke JPS. Although someone probably should point out to the manufacturers that the ol' Queen Mum ain't a good advert for ciggies right now...

LOL @ Spikeitis. I sold some JPS to a guy last night. He smelled vaguely of cheap lager and looked as though he smoked them on his own 
..maybe it's the first step to becoming an alcoholich JJ..next time I see you on the tube you'll have a pack of JPS, a bottle of Strongbow, a little dog and a sign saying 'Please feed me & my doggy'..maybe not though

I work in a newsagents on Saturday mornings.
I've sold about 2 packets of JPS in total in the past 2 months I think!

I used to smoke JPS. I was a starving student-type and I prefered to smoke than eat.
Thankfully I got over it ( I got a job & could afford better cigs.
Then I quit completely )
Syd - that was a nasty case of Spikeitis you had at the 'Red-Dwarf-Weekend-That-Wasn't'. I was quite scared actually.

Thanks Milky, but I think the alcoholism kicked in a looong time ago... And if a dog and sign will get me more booze/fag money then I'm game. Do you think a Tigger on a piece of string will work as well?
And yes, JPS (John Player Special) did sponser F1 in the seventies. They had by far the best looking cars, all in black, natch.
And Sydney, you have Spikeitis, and the sooner you can say that the sooner you can start on the road to recovery. Least that's my hope, anyway...

So far, so good, despite sleeping all the way back from Staines to Reading yesterday. AND he helped me win a game of pool tonight! Tigger rules.

Actually, 'Spikeitis' more correctly describes that relatively rare condition of swelling of the Spike, which I'm sure no-one would knowingly wish to be associated with. Perhaps a better label would be 'Spikeophrenia', or 'Spikeopathic tendencies'...
