Can I just correct a misconception - 1966 was not the last time we beat Argentina. 1966 was the last time we beat Argentina in the World Cup Finals. But we havce beaten them.
So where was your hand of god this time, boys! Who says we can't beat the Argies?
And as I've said elsewhere, if Sweden can beat Argentina next Wednesday, then not only are we in the second round, but Argentina will be going home! A draw should pretty much mean the same.

I'm not really a footie fan but I was glued to the TV today...well done guys !!!
That was a damn good match !

OOOOooohhhkaaayyy!!!!! What a brilliant match!
Where were you then eh...? I was in a boozer in Liverpool called The Brunswick and the atmosphere was really really brilliant!!! The pub laid on free grub and I'll tell you what, I'll be visiting there again *nods head*
So what did y'all think of the match..? I haven't seen England play so well as a team in so long, it was really great to see. The way the lads defended that goal in the second half was really brilliant teamwork and really Seaman hardly had to move I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination but seriously, I think England deserved to win (despite the media furore that will surely follow) they played well, they earned the win. Argentina simply although they were good played just a little bit untidily and I think for someone to tackle in the penalty box... well, that's asking for trouble eh *nods*
Well done the lads Hope they manage to pull off a decent win on Wednesday !!

There's only one David Beckham!!
Hehe. I watched the game on a huge widescreen they put up in our city centre. Lots of me and my friends and family were all there. My voice hurts from screaming soooooo much and blowing a whistle!! I've had a huge St. George's flag tied round my baggy trousers today. And everyone in Norwich is totally gone mad- all horns hooting and screaming and yelling down the streets! I was so bubbly and happy thanks to winning, my bf had to calm me down!!!
Way to go Becks. And Big up the boys, you did well me lads! They played well, the attacking a little sloppy towards the end but they focused mainly on defending which was superb! Yay "ENG-ER-LAND!!!!"

Mucho congrats to Sven and the boys for playing such an excellent game. Apart from one or two mistakes, the whole team played an outstanding game especially Trevor Sinclair, Nicky Butt, Rio Ferdinand, David Seaman and Becks. Heck, even Wayne Bridge got a run out (Saints boy) and it made me so proud!
Bring on Nigeria!
Bring on Nigeria!
Hell Yeah!!! I will even get out of bed and watch this, a first for me!!!

Bring on Nigeria!
Just as a postscript to the events of Friday, I found this little ditty in today's News Of The World, by a reporter who was with a bunch of England fans in Sappora and it made me smile. It's self-explanatory:
"Later, something funny happened at the airport. A few bedraggled Argentinians were making their way through. One had a blue and white bandana wrapped around his head. Maybe he'd tied it too tight and cut off the blood supply.
'**** your Queen,' he yelled. '**** you, **** your Queen.'
Do you know what the English did?
They laughed.
They didn't swear or thump him. They looked over and just laughed. Fell about.
It could be the future. Like its footballers, Ing-rund's fans did a lot of growing up in Sappora."

I don't think I've ever felt prouder to be English

Shame that behaviour didn't extend to the fans back in this country I was reminded of exactly *why* I find it impossible to support England at football on Saturday night, when some drunken so-and-so in an England shirt took exception to being told that he wasn't getting any more beer and threw an ice bucket at my beloved. The night before someone did the same thing to the assistant manager.
It's only football. England can win all they like at cricket, rugby, tennis, athletics, and I'll be right there cheering them on...but when it comes to football then I for one hope that they lose, or at least for a draw. I've seen way too much damage done by fans celebrating to hope for a victory.

Absolutely Brilliant game to the Argie cheats!! Bring on Nigeria, and come on Sweden, send em home, with their tails stuffed firmly behind their legs.
Mr Beckham can proudly say he finally laid his ghosts to rest. (nice touch that he shook 'Simiones' hand at half time, takes a man to do that)
COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!

If thats the behavior when we win imagine what it'll be like if we lose...

Anyway I have a theory about those people and so called 'football hooligans' in general. The football and genuine football supporters aren't the problem. The violence extends from those idiots (swearing policy prevents me from using a more accurate term) who simply want to cause trouble and initiate violence. They hide behind football as an excuse in order to in some way legitimise their behavior and as a result give us genuine supporters a bad name.
That is why there has been very little trouble abroad - aside from various pastport confiscation measures designed to keep the worst ring leaders away - its bloomin' expensive to get to Japan and the violent types can't afford that much money just to get in a fight. So they stay at home - hence trouble as above. You also find that the really severe fights rarely happen inside football grounds because they don't want to pay for a ticket.

YAY!!! Go England! Where does everyone get their flags from? I cant find them anywhere
