A lovely goal by Owen there. But watch them Brazilians run down that left side!
*Getting ready to run to work at half term*
GO ENGLAND!!

Come on boys, you can beat 'em!!!
We kinda went out with a whimper, didn't we?
Oh well, there's always the European Championships in 2004....
Gutted thought we had it in the bag after our goal.
A sad day for England, but hey, at least we got this far.

Our office is really subdued - you'd think someone had died.
But well done the lads. To think that when Sven took over as England manager we weren't expected to even qualify for the World Cup never mind make it to the quarter finals through the toughest route of the whole tournament. We've over come injuries to some of our best players and on the whole we've played well.

Never mind We did really well this year; we beat the Argentinians, hammered that Danes and scored against the Brazillians.
Not too bad at all really !

oh well no public holiday then (Old Tony said we would have a public holiday if we won)
England did well to get this far!

I wasn't watching the match, I was upstairs watching a movie while a dozen people (who'd already started drinking) were downstairs screaming at the TV. I went out before the match was over and found out what the result was when Milky texted me with a gleeful message along the lines of "Goodbye England!"
At least someone has a smile on their face

Just you make sure you send him a 'Goodbye Scotland" text four matches into their Euro 2004 qualification group in return

** 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' by Oasis plays out as the BBC cameras show the sombre faces in London, Manchester and Liverpool..the camera cuts to Casa De Milky...where a party is in action "They're going home, they're going Englands going home!!!" **
To say I'm chuffed would be an understatement..sorry guys...from what I've been told England didn't play to well(too negative)but they did do well to get as far as they did *grudging praise*.
People always ask why the other home nations don't support England if their teams aren't their and the reason is primarily to do with the media and their 'we're gonna win this easy' attitude. Don't think I actually saw one report on the Tv or in a paper which said England would get beaten..most said they would scrape a win...when we played Brazil at France 98 in the tournament opener there wasn't one person in Scotland who thought we would win that game. When we scored the whole country shook and for 28 minutes we thought that we might actually beat them...then of course they proved too strong for us and ended up beating us 2-1.
As Billy said at Euro 2004 we might very well get knocked out in the group stages(if we actually manage to qualify) *but* we'll be realistic about our chances..I can say now that there is no way we'll win Euro 2004 however I wouldn't put money on England winning it either.
Congratulations England on getting as far as you did..thank god you didn't get farther though or us Scots, Welsh & Irish folk would be hearing about 2002 for the next 60 years
